Fans who showed up tonight were treated to an exciting game. Had its fair share of mistakes but good up and down action both ways. I enjoyed the salute at the end.

I also appreciated the salute to the fans.

I wish NJD did stuff like that aside from on fan appreciation day.

Just got back from the game and had a great time. A few general observations:

Surprising low turnout considering tickets for STH were FREE and it was nice to see quite a number of folks come down from Albany with River Rats merchandise on...die hards - and these folks paid $10 apiece to get in.

Our farm team's initial game here in 2010:

5458 for the last time the AHL affiliate came here, which is more than I remember so yeah there's no good reason attendance should be half that now a few years later. Especially with no 'game fatigue' since there was no other home games last week or this week.

The last time, there was a season ticket holder player event at The Rock and the game followed.

Wish the Devils did some sort of All-star skills game the beginning of the AS break so it wouldn't interfere with player's breaks too much. I think it would be cool to have Albany and the Devils show off their skills.

I feel slightly guilty for not going and helping the attendance, but I also have a long commute and really needed to get back in the gym after work anyway. I think in a better season, fan interest would have been much higher (like it was in 2010 when we also had some of the best local TV ratings in the US).

Forgot to mention that old time hockey open-ice hip check delivered by Devils defenseman Mike Keenan.

Its part of the game highlights postd now on the AHL website.

One thing while watching in person (first AHL game I attended) was how could Larsson ever be sent down to the AHL?

Minus stints for rehab after injuries and when he had his slump. Am I crazy thinking this?

Yeah plus if they did it more than once then people would demand it be after every game (or at least every win) and it'd become an issue like it did for the Leafs earlier this year when they suddenly didn't do it for a couple games during a bad stretch after doing it by rote every other game.

Our fans usually get a shoutout during the on ice interview anyway. That's enough.

Only time I want salutes is on fan appreciation day and in the playoffs after big wins.

I think most fans would appreciate salutes and I believe many teams do them now.

But let's face reality, as long as Lou is the BMOC, we're not going to get salutes anyways aside from the apologetic Fan Appreciation Day gesture.

It was a good touch last night by the Albany players though.

***TML appaently stopped for a few games after some pampered fans start chucking their jerseys on the ice.

I went to the game after work since I worked late and got a ticket at the box office.

I was a few rows from the ice and it was cool seeing Thompson, Scarlett, Clemmer (who was awful sadly), Brylin behind the bench and others.

What I found disturbing was seeing and hearing boys and girls no older than 10 say "you suck" after goals. It made me sick and I fully understand why the new owners want to do away with it. Those kids heard it once and were saying it for the rest of the game.

I'm sorry but our owners shouldn't be the ones doing the Parenting of their kids, you know. :dunno:

Besides, they learn a lot worse things in school than the phrase "You suck".

BTW, how did Brylin look?

"suck" is not even a bad word to kids these days.
It's equivilent to "stink".

I'd be concerned if they were dropping F-bombs, but "you suck" shouldn't phase anyone.

Sarge got a nice cheer from the fans when he was introduced pregame.
So did Mooooooose
