Yeah, butterfly was still a save selection and not a lifestyle of a lot of goalies at that time...a lot of guys were chastised for going down early because you gave up your leverage and gave up net that way...
Likewise I can't take someone who quite literally thinks "stand-up goaltending" means that a goalie never, ever leaves his feet seriously.

Right, he dropped to a knee, dropped his shoulder...pretty much the least efficient tactics in goaltending...
Jason Williams?
80-21-37-58 with Detroit in '05-06, his most points in a season. After that year he played some more in the NHL, AHL, and Europe and never had better, those 58 points were also his highest since 2001 his first year as a pro with Cincinnati in the AHL. Maybe injuries opened a spot up for him that year or he was just in the right place at the right time.
Looks like his career year was playing with Lang and Yzerman with Babcock as coach. It also looks like he suffered a concussion the following season (a hit by Raffi Torres) which would've affected his play. A real shame, and like you said he still put up good numbers wherever he played, just didn't or couldn't play enough.Strange, he produced pretty good with the Blackhawks and the Blue Jackets as well with 43 gms - 36 pts and 39 gms - 29 pts respectively. Opportunity of a lot of ice time, maybe. Or off ice issues.
