I got his jersey done after 2012 with the Cup Final patch. If I was going to get it, I was going to get it done right and that playoff run will always be cemented in Devils' lore for what he did.

I was really glad I got him to autograph it last year. I had already met him a few times during his rookie season, but wanted to get my jersey signed to "retire" it in a sense. Really glad I made it to that signing.

It is kind of nuts most have us have watched his entire career to this point.

There aren’t many guys you can say that about. Especially on the current team, well not watched for a long time.

Makes you thankful for the new crop of homegrown talent too. Always get attached more to the guys that came up through your system.

Honestly I could have seen him taking a big hometown discount to stay here without hurting the team elsewhere if he could.

I think we need to stay away when he becomes a free agent, but I would love a reunion tour from him at some point down the line.

There was one time where I was considering getting his jersey (2012) and then reading this thread, I thought ''Yeah, I'm glad I didn't get that one'' as he would have been the last player still on the team, who I had a jersey of. I have Zajac, Schneider and Hall T-shirt jerseys, but no real jersey of anyone active on the team.

Then I thought, he's a guy who I wouldn't mind wearing his jersey. He didn't leave on shitty terms, he didn't even leave for a big payday somewhere, like Holik, Gomez or Parise. It wasn't even his choice to leave. So aside from Marty and Patty, I think he's the only significant player from that 2012 team, who has now departed and is still in the league, who I think I'd be comfortable wearing his jersey, if I had one.

I'm over Parise, but I don't think I could walk down the street wearing his jersey. I'd rather wear a Team USA Parise jersey than a Devils one. And that other guy who left after him? Forget it.

I'm glad the Devils instagram also did a video and picture tribute to him. If we had a tribute video for Adam Larsson when he first came back (I think we did?) then we'll undoubtedly have one for Rico in a few weeks. That's one thing I appreciate that we do, which we weren't doing under Lou. The tribute videos when a former player returns for the first time. I have to say that I am glad that we didn't do those under Lou because if we did, we would have had one for Parise.

Maybe I'm getting a little sentimental too, but I can see him coming back at some point, even though he wasn't a Shero guy, Shero inherited him. I could see him coming back in the event that he signs a big deal, gets bought out and comes back for a cheap deal, with short term. Also assuming that he's still a good player then, just that he'd be a bit overpaid and get bought out as a result.

I always felt like the original Gionta would be back. In the early 2010's, I never thought Gomez would play here again before Gionta.

It almost seems like Adam thinks he'll be back someday, with his ''For now....'' comment haha.

He seemed to love being a Devil, unlike a couple other guys, who couldn't wait to get the hell out of here while we were still competing/contending in a couple cases. And he seemed to love it here, even though the team hadn't been competitive since his rookie year.
