Speculation: According to Sean Reynolds (Sportsnet) Winnipeg is going all in this trade deadline

There is no asset in the Flames' organisation that gets Chevy to give up McGroarty, and Barlow could easily be an equally tough sell.
This comment is very obnoxious.
McGroarty might be a hard no, but your own board seems to favour Lambert over Barlow. I don't think that is an impossible ask for Lindholm, especially if there is more added, like retention or Tanev.

every year fans want teams top prospects for their rentals and every year they go for 1st + b-c level prospects

Only sith deal in absolutes.

Maukkis is a good poster - more conservative view and approach on making trades is all.

Okay, I’ll believe a random Habs fan over the GM of the team. The only way Lindholm doesn’t get traded is if he re-signs but he has shown no interest in signing with the Flames.
As for the playoff rival thing, they traded with the Canucks already.
Lol. Keep dreaming.... Flames cannot trade him for futures as long as they in playoff picture. He's one of their stars.

According to this article, Barlow is the Jets 5th rakned prospect. Who knows where Chevy has him ranked. But if they feel that Lindholm is what they need and they don't have to give anything from the roster up, how could they say no?

I know enough about the Jets to know that the combination of skill, leadership, and integrity is not going to be given up willingly. They'd probably forfeit their rights to Lambert far before trading McGroarty for anything remotely serious.

Some do prefer Lambert, yes, but the team already has a couple of Barlows on it. Lamberts don't seem to stick, even if this one seems to have outperformed all my expectations for him (which were quite low for off-ice reasons, just to elaborate).

Everyone is expecting them to add, just how much/how big/where is the question.

I think most Jets fans are looking for/hoping for:

- Significant 2C (Lindholm just an example)

- Top 4 RHD, some debate I think if its a PP guy or defensive guy or two way guy.

- Maybe 1-2 depth guys on D/at forward (PK guy)

- Jets have lots of cap space, but someone will have to go in the return depending on how big the 2C & Top 4D cap hits are.
Are the Jets looking for a D to QB their 2nd PP unit?

None of us are Chevy, so all we call do is speculate, repeat what we hear locally from the media & team...........which is McGroarty is about as untouchable as there is as far as a prospect goes. While I won't compare his value to anyone player on the Flames, the point is a bit moot bc by all records he's not available in any trades discussions. So using your language he's about as hard of a no as any team in the NHL has on their prospects who they feel are untouchable. No point talking about him TBH.

Depends on which fan your talking to......personally I wouldn't go after some PP specialist who's weak in other areas of his game. Those who are great on the PP and not weak in their end typically are top 2 D in the NHL and untouchable. I would target a legit top 4 two way RHD who's good at both ends of the ice.

As they should. The top end of the league feels beatable this year.

Man, if only Ekholm was available this year rather than last year, he would've been the perfect guy for the Jets.

Youd have to think no player is "untouchable" in any prospect pool. It's more about what the deal is. As much as I love McGroarty if Pens are still out and Crosby is available he's on the table + (or any other top level player who's not just a rental).

He has more than once. For whatever reason that Habs fan doesn't want to believe the GM

Can you be more clear with your question, not sure what your asking.

Oh sorry hunter. Guess that was quite vague. Lol.

I meant who would want to add a dman that can Wpg the second pp but was weak in their own zone?

I’m not sure that would be a net add to the team.

Here is the jets board ranking of our prospects.

I’d say 2-7 are better or equivalent to Ritchie.

So we have quite a bit.

1. F-Rutger McGroarty 42.3%
2. F-Chaz Lucius 30.6%
3. F-Brad Lambert 40.0%
4. F-Colby Barlow 73.0%
5. D-Ville Heinola 60.2%
6. D-Elias Salomonsson 50.0%
7. F-Nikita Chibrikov 61.1%
8. G-Domenic DiVincentiis 45.3%
9. D-Declan Chisholm 54.3%
10. F-Dmitri Rashevsky
11. F-Danny Zhilkin 41.7%
12. G-Thomas Milic 38.9%
13. F-Fabian Wagner 32.1%

Would love to see Barlow come to the Flames in a Lindholm trade.

Do you have a past trade that you think is similar to what you expect for Lindholm?

Good question, I would realistically love a hybrid of Demelo & Pionk, IE: Pionk's puck moving/offensive ability and Demelo reliability & defensive ability. Who does mean? Not sure, but the hybrid player wouldn't be a 1D, but likely close to a #2D.

What we don't want IMO is a pure PP/weak defensive player and we want a upgrade on Pionk.

an upgrade on pionk would be nice but I doubt there is one that is available
