[FIELDSET="QUOTES TO NOTE"]

We set a goal going into this year that we want to make the playoffs, and when we’re in it, go for the big prize.
We all believe we can do it. I think we have the parts, the skill.
Now it’s about making everything work at the same time and be our absolute best. We’re going to need it.
- Henrik Lundqvist

I think what the league is coming to is it’s very high speed, with all these young kids coming in.
Being able to skate with them is definitely a positive. But the No. 1 thing is being able to defend.
I’ve been working on that and I think I’ve been doing a pretty good job with that.
So it’s nice that I can skate like that, and the coaches also allow me to get up in the play and use my skating to my advantage.
- Brady Skjei

I would say it’s a combination of a few things. We’re where we are and we know who we’re going to play.
So a couple guys that haven’t played a lot I can give an opportunity to give a little bit of ice time.
We all know in playoff hockey, a lot of things can happen. So this might help us down the road.
- Alain Vigneault

That is the most squad rotation lineup that ever squad rotated.

Opted out of going to this tonight because I figured we'd scratch half the team and get blown out.

LGR anyway.

ROFL @ that defense.

Scratches and maintenance will do that, but still. Looking at it in a vacuum is hilarious.

This game will be a good assessment of how screwed they are if they suffer catestrophic injuries during the playoffs.

Yea, let's spend Game 1 getting back into the swing of things. Strongly disagree with AV's approach to end of season mgmt.

Carrying injured and banged up played deep into the playoffs aren't going to pay dividends. If we can rest up players now and put together a good effort and get past the first two games, we have a better chance. winning the war vs battle crap. This is the first year he's tried heavy resting so I'm all for it.

1 game's worth of healing "bumps and bruises" <<<< 1 game of rust in the playoffs. Any significant injury isn't going to heal much "extra" with one game off.

I don't think this is what NBC had in mind for an early-April Caps-Rangers game.

May be as annoyed with AV for sitting everyone than I've been with any lineup decision he's made this year.

We need to round into form.

They will be down 1-0 5 minutes into game 1 and he will be changing the lines, would rather guys all rest up.

Yeah but really what you're doing is giving them five days off. We last played Sunday, and don't play again until Saturday. So five days without a game can really help a guy who has some dings and strains.

I hate AV more than any coach the Rangers have had, but this is the right decision. They know each other and their idiosyncrasies. They don't need to round into shape for the playoffs. That should have happened a dozen games ago.
The negative comments about AV is just people who hate him have more to hate him with. It is the smart move.
