When was the last time we had a stout defense? Sometime before Cappy? I legit can not remember.

That's a great question.

In the early 2000s, we had Aucoin, Hamrlik, and Jonsson, but we also had Cairns, Ray Schultz, that p***y Janne Niinimaa, Sven Butenschon, etc.

You'd have to go back to the 80s to find a solid defensive roster.

I'd love to have someone associated with the Nashville organization as the next GM. Maybe then things would turn around. (Getting Dahlin couldn't hurt either.........)

Didn't realize they play 3 teams vying for that last spot; huge week. A winning team comes through. We'll see what they are made of.

I do know if they had some D support that would go a long way in helping.

After 50+ games, I think we know what this team is made off.

Great top two lines
Abysmal Team Defense
Below Average Goaltending
Terrible Coaching
Tendency to give up goals early and late in periods

I honestly think I'm going to sit this one out. As a first year teacher, I don't have much free time as it is, and after the Calgary game I felt robbed of 3 hours that I could have been doing something more productive or enjoyable.

What are the odds the Islanders outshoots Columbus tonight?

I'd say around the same odds as getting struck by lightning while being attacked by a shark while holding the winning numbers to the powerball

Jonsson, Aucoin and Hamrlik... I have always thought that Brendan Witt was ideal d-man to round out that top four. Unfortunately, he came a few years too late.

In 1992-93, it was not that bad : Malakhov, Norton, Krupp, Kasparaitis, Pilon, Lachance (was still a good prospect at that time), Vaske and Kurvers as a PP specialist (not good defensively though).

I feel like we are completely being teased by the standings because they dont tell the story of how bad this team actually is.

I mean what is it now 6 regulation wins in 32 or 33 games? thats almost half of a season. Never too late to turn it around i guess

Definitely. He played very well his first season here, not so great after that though. I liked him mostly because he used to surf in Long Beach when he played for the Isles.
