[FIELDSET="Game Overview"]
Sharks start a 6 game road with 5 of the 6 teams having a playoff position. Mueller was given a round trip ticket in the past two days, so it appears that Dillon will remain out due to an upper body injury for tonight.

These two teams met in San Jose during the Sharks longest losing streak and when the Sharks could not buy a win at home. Lightning was playing on the backside of a b2b and won 4-3. Score is misleading as the game was not that close.

Lightning jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, and never lost it. Sharks were never able to get a puck past Bishop on 5v5 play, as all goals came on the PP. Lightning did commit 8 penalties which helped the Sharks produce in the 2nd and 3rd periods.

If there's a time for the Sharks to make a run for the playoffs, it's now.

[FIELDSET="Transaction Since Last Game"]
Feb 15th - Mirco Mueller recalled from Barracudas
Feb 14th - Micro Mueller assigned to Barracudas
[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Keys to the Game"]Sharks have the best road record in the Western Conference, and more importantly, are 24-2-1 after scoring first, and 21-0-2 when leading at the end of the 2nd period.
  • Be on the road... check
  • Score first and carry the lead into the 3rd.
  • Tampa is tough to score on, so Jones needs to turn in another one of his best games.
  • Sharks have the edge on special teams, and need to capitalize on the PP.
[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Season Match Up"]Lightning are up 1-0 in a 2 game season series.

Sharks are 3k+ away from affiliate for first part of 5-game road trip.

Until Dillon is 100%, it's insurance to have Mueller up as the healthy scratch D.

Tampa's lost three of their last four and have given up the first goal in each of those games. It's already known how crucial it is for the Sharks to get that first goal and getting a good team like Tampa down early when they're in a bit of a slump is obviously huge to start off a road trip AND to get back 2nd place in the division. Even if it's only temporary since Anaheim is in Edmonton and that'll be an easy win. Need to keep up.

so sharks and ducks gonna flip flop till playoffs or what?

Still I would like to see LA slide, Sharks take Division and then that way LA and Ducks can face each other 1st round! But alas, I live in a pipe dream.

SNOG

Sharks 3 (Donskoi, Thornton and Hertl)
Tampa 2 (Stamkos and Palat)

I believe Ducks will take 1st, and the flip-flopping will be between the Kings and Sharks.

It's quite fitting? Kings and Sharks in the 1st round, and Oilers winning the lottery.

Is Brown starting over Zubrus this game?

Lines 1,3,and 4 have been awesome. It's time for the 2nd line to carry its own weight.

Any definitive word on whether or not Dillon is playing?

I think Pashelka tweeted that Dillon was on the ice with scratched players today which usually means he isn't on the lineup. So I think he isn't playing today.

SNOG Sharks 4-2

Pavelski, Couture, Nieto, Burns
Kucherov, Callahan
