Source, Steven Stamkos has broken tibia. Told will require surgery. #TSN

I'm happy it's bone and not ligament, but still waiting for full report

Btw, who's going to be the trigger-man on 1PP now? Salo and Stammer had the best slappers.

Best player in the world right now and I'M not afraid to say it.
Hoping it isn't as bad as it looked and that Stammer has a speedy recovery.

Broken tibia and needs surgery. Could be worse, but not the best news either.

I'm bad with anything medical. What's a recovery look like for something like that? And is it a full recovery?

The news could be worse. But could be better too.

Need to call up Kucherov. Can't just lose 60% of our offense and not try to compensate somehow.

For someone as young and in the shape he's in, I'd guess 4-8 months minimum. He should have a full recovery, but I know it's taken up to a year before they're even walking.

Im guessing minimum 12 weeks out. I've witnessed a few of these in my rugby career and they often end seasons or take atleast 3 months. Get well soon Stammer.

Bruins fan just wanted to wish a speedy recovery for Stamkos.

Not sure what the time table is for a broken tibia-think Campbell broke his fibula and required surgery-his recovery was about 8 to 10 weeks.

Isn't the goal supposed to dislodge before something like this can happen?

Most of the relevant info is at the bottom. Sounds like surgery is done with this type of injury if it's an open fracture or if there are multiple breaks or large displacements. Recovery time is 4-6 months. You could potentially take a month of that prognosis due to his health and having the best docs around working with him. Best case February, worst case April. If it's April, I'd rather them not rush him back, and let him heal properly.
