Anyone got any intel on Stephen Halliday's game? His numbers look pretty good on the face of it.
He is the offensive driver on a team with an anemic offense. His roughly a point of game pace is rather impressive when considering the next guy has 19 points in 28 games.

I have only watched him for two periods, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. He is huge and a relatively smooth skater for his size, but his hockey sense and his passing are what really stand out. The guy really sees the ice and can make plays. He is not one dimensional either. He had a snipe in the game I watched and his goal totals are projected to take a jump forward this year.

I think a lot of his success will depend on his skating at the NHL level. In a short viewing, I can't really tell how good skating is, either average, slightly below average or worse? I will tell you I was pleasantly surprised in my limited viewing. He is smooth, unlike Sokolov, who has that choppy stride- where his energy output doesn't match his top speed or agility. Halliday has some deceptive gliding.

I know Scott Wheeler(who I don't always agree with) thinks he could be a middle-six forward and I kind of agree. I like Halliday more than Jarventie and think he is easily a top 5 non-goalie prospect in the system. Get him to Bellville at the end of the year and he may turn a few heads like he did at Dev. camp.

Big fella at 6'4" and 210 LBs.

From the description I see no mention of how he uses his big body. Does he play BIG?

Two lists here .. one top 50 and one team top 5; Spoiler no Sens in the top 50 list

Hamara #2 and Sokolov #4.

Holy moly that’s ridiculously bad.

Though it’s a ridiculously bad group of prospects, that’s an incredibly bad ranking.

Hamara wasn’t even the top Sens prospect on Kitchener

Yeah an absolute manure of a list by TSN. I know Craig Button is big on Hamara but come on.

Button at least in unique in that he does not follow the norm at all, this is his ranking from his viewings alone. Even though not statistically relevant, I enjoy his list more than others.

He's big on the players who perform well at international tournaments, as that's where he does a lot of his scouting.

Despite being really underwhelming at the OHL level Hamara was actually quite good at the WJC, hence Button's ranking.

Deeply skeptical of any list that still includes Egor Sokolov as a prospect, let alone the 4th best in the system.

Too harsh on Soko imo. Obviously he's a long shot at best, but we've personally seen guys like Hoffman and Paul take the long road before. And we see many other late blooming guys around the NHL sprouting up in recent years.

And to be fair he's clearly got offensive weapons and the size to play. He's a very good AHL player - and I think there's a lot of fans who never went very far in hockey that don't realize how incredibly talented and good a top level AHL hockey player really is. Chances are they can dominate any other league in the world.

I don't have high hopes for him, but he's still been a solid pro with a great attitude for us. And at 23yrs old it's still entirely possible to eventually make the NHL if you have the drive to keep pushing.

Sokolov is a great story and by all accounts a really good kid, but this list is about NHL projection. He's too slow. He's worked on his skating and it's still unfortunately not up to NHL standards. His thinking of the game at the NHL level is suspect at best too.

He's a good AHL player with a good work ethic so who knows but his future in the NHL looks unlikely at best. But, as with all our players and prospects, maybe we should wait and see how REAL professionals assess him at camp next year. He hasn't had that luxury yet.

I watched a good part of that game . Halliday's other assist in the 3rd period was pretty nice as well.. although it was probably a failed wrap around.. that got banged in. Still nice.
Wallberg had 2 assists as well.. He doesn't look too bad. Big rangy LD. Solid Prospect imo.
Ohio State knocked off #4 ranked Michigan State.. impressive. I also wanted to check out Levshunov the 2024 Draft highly ranked RD

Here's Halliday's other assist

These teams play again today at 6ET. Can catch some before the Sens game; see Onhockey.

Do we think Halliday will sign this offseason? Him and Ostapchuk down the middle in Belleville will be solid (tall).

Is Ben Roger the worst top 2 round pick we ever made? Like drafted him and then year later we’re like probably not even player let’s cut bait.

Or two year la later

Bashkirov told the Sens he wasn't going to sign essentially immediately after the draft because the Sens never took his brother
