Roster Notes:

Once again, it’s been a transaction-free few days for the Senators, with Boko Imama, Jiri Smejkal, Angus Crookshank and Matt Highmore still with the NHL Club in Ottawa. A complete list of recent transactions can be found here. Belleville’s injured list just includes Tyler Boucher, Phil Daoust, and Roby Jarventie, who are all out long-term. Full lineup details, including tonight’s alignment, will be available prior to puck drop via the B-Sens social media channels (@BellevilleSens).

Who to Watch:

Wyatt Bongiovanni was Belleville’s late-game hero in Toronto on Wednesday night, scoring both the game-tying goal in the third period, and the overtime winner. The 24-year-old from Birmingham, Michigan, has scored four times in nine games since joining the Senators at the trade deadline. Cole Reinhardt brings a four-game point streak (two goals, two assists) into tonight’s game after assisting on Wednesday overtime winning marker, while Josh Currie who also scored Wednesday, has points in back-to-back games (one goal, one assist).

Newcomer Anton Wahlberg has been making an immediate impact for the Amerks, after joining the American Hockey League from Sweden recently. In four games with Rochester, the 18-year-old from Sweden has picked up three points (one goal, two assists), after collecting 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 43 games with Malmo in the SHL, the top hockey league in Sweden. Wahlberg also scored three times for Sweden in five games at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Roster Notes:

The B-Sens lineup has had a fair amount of consistency in the few games since Boko Imama’s recall to Ottawa. A complete list of recent transactions can be found here. The biggest update to Belleville’s roster is the injury to captain Dillon Heatherington. The veteran defender was injured late in the game at Toronto on Wednesday and underwent surgery on Friday morning, effectively ending his season. He joins other long-term injured players including Tyler Boucher, Phil Daoust, and Roby Jarventie. Full lineup details, including tonight’s alignment, will be available prior to puck drop via the B-Sens social media channels (@BellevilleSens).

Who to Watch:

B-Sens defender Nikolas Matinpalo recorded his first two-goal game in the AHL last night, while continuing to put up some solid numbers defensively. The big Finn has a +/- rating of +14 through 63 games of his first year of professional hockey in North America. Rookie forward Stephen Halliday extended his assist streak to four games, while forward Josh Currie (two goals, one assist) and defender Jacob Larsson (three assists) are riding a three-game point streaks into tonight’s game.

Isak Rosen is on a three-game assist streak for the Americans. The14th overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2021 National Hockey League Entry Draft has recorded one assist and four shots on goal in each of his last three games and has 10 points over his last 11 outings. Meanwhile, fellow Sabres first-rounder (28th overall in 2022) Jiri Kulich recorded 11 shots on goal in Friday’s game, while forwards Damien Giroux (two assists) and Graham Slaggert (two goals, one assist) each have points in back-to-back games.

Bongiovanni is of course a stud. His grandparents came here and built the country brick by brick.

What is sogaards deal lol it’s pretty crazy. He may just be all about comfort and confidence.

What’s the magic number for Belleville to make the playoffs? 3 points?
Technically it is 5, I think... if Utica wins all their games, at least 3 of which are in regulation, they would have 80 pts and 30 regulation wins, whereas if we get 4 pts we would have 80pts and at most 29 regulation wins.

If Utica wins 2 in regulation and two in extra time and we lose all our remaining games in extra time, we'd be tied in points (80), RW (29) and ROW (33)... not sure what the next tie breaker would be.
