Not a good sign that he was assigned to the ECHL.
Who did you expect him to outplay out of:

Heatherington
Matinpalo
JBD
Kleven
Thomson
Guenette
Larsson

It's a numbers game. That is an extremely deep AHL D corps and Belleville is focused on a Calder Cup run. No surprise a young guy like Sebrango was the odd man out (just like Leevi) and it isn't a knock on his game in the slightest, in fact it could be a great development path for him.

I could see Toure being given the same route next year if the backlog doesn't clear up. The ECHL makes good sense for certain players at certain times.

Just in case anybody was wondering...

Tyler Boucher continues to work his way back to full health and won’t be ready to go tonight.

Pretty sure there were people arguing last season that it was literally impossible for the sens to have sent Kastelic down if he was still injured.

Seems to prove that position was incorrect.

You aren't supposed to be able to demote injured players. When Boucher was sent down they claimed he had medical clearance was ready to play.

The official rules were never in question. How things work in the real world was.

Boucher was “cleared” in Ottawa and apparently arrived injured in belleville.

Roster Notes:

The Senators seemed to get out of last weekend’s matchup relatively healthy, with no new names added to the injured list. Tyler Boucher continues to work his way back to full health and won’t be ready to go tonight. Mads Sogaard is expected to make his second consecutive start tonight, backed up by Kevin Mandolese. Full lineup details are expected prior to puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Power forward Zack MacEwen made an immediate impact for Belleville, after being assigned to the AHL club from Ottawa last week. The 27-year-old from Charlottetown, PEI notched his 100th and 101st AHL points in his B-Sens debut. Additionally, forward Zack Ostapchuk scored his first career AHL goal last weekend and added an assist for his first professional multi-point game. Rookie defenceman Tyler Kleven had an assist, for his first AHL point, as well.

Milwaukee has been led early on by Russian playmaker Denis Gurianov, who has four points (one goal, three assists). The former first round draft pick to Dallas played all of last season in the NHL, splitting time between Dallas and Montreal. The Ads’ roster also boasts some other former first round picks like Fedor Svechkov (Nashville’s 19th overall pick in 2021) and Reid Schaefer (Edmonton’s 32nd overall pick in 2022), along with former Kingston Frontenac Roland McKeown on the blueline.

Follow the action:

Tonight’s game can seen on AHL TV and heard on the Belleville Sens Entertainment Network. pregame coverage from CAA Arena in Belleville, Ontario, begins at 6:45 p.m. (ET) with David Foot and Tim Durkin.

Smejkal scratched?

He looked like an NHLer in the pre-season.
He's stunk in the first 3 games, but so have all the 'top' guys down there. Sokolov, Crookshank, and Highmore have all been just as bad. They've been carried by the grinders/footsoldiers.

That said, not sure how long a guy like Smejkal will stick around in the AHL. Guys his age tend to book it back to Europe rather than stick it out down there. There's better money and lifestyle available to him overseas.

Something else to consider is that since MacEwen has been demoted, Belleville have too many vets to dress them all every game.

Highmore, Heatherington, MacEwen, Imama, Currie, Larsson, Pilon and Smejkal all count. AHL rules specify that you can dress 5 of those guys, and 1 exempt player who has between 261-320 AHL/NHL/Euro pro games. So there will be some rotating scratches.

This may be the worst I've seen Lassi Thomson play, and he has some doozies under his belt already.
