Alberta announces their recruiting class…

IMO, this recruiting class isn't as offensively gifted as most, dating back to Saskatoon/Halifax era. Stan Marple has certainly addressed size up front and on the back end.
Three of five forwards are WHL grads, all from Alberta.
Justin Hall F (6'1 196 Edmonton) power forward with Lethbridge WHL, 34 goals in his senior year.
Adam Hall F (6'2 200) Edmonton) power forward Vancouver WHL, 17 goals in senior year.
Jakin Smallwood F (6'1 186 Leduc,Alberta) power forward Winnipeg WHL, 25 goals in senior year.
Bruce McGregor F (6'1 180 Sherwood Park) another power forward out of Sherwood Park AJHL, with 11 goals in senior year.
Tanner Fincaryk F (5'9 165 Calahoo Alberta) 21 goals out of Lloydminster AJHL.
Jayden Platz D (6'3 215 St Albert, Alberta) spent three seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings, WHL, including last year with NAIT ACAC.
Ethan Gruger G (6'2 185 Sherwood Park, Alberta) 3.60 GAA with Brandon Wheat Kings last year.

On Alberta's recruits.
Justin Hall and Jakin Smallwood are locks to be in the Golden Bears top 9.
Justin Hall has pro potential. Could be an interesting guy to watch.
Adam Hall had a terrific playoffs for the Vancouver Giants 10-5-15 in 12 GP
Kruger was a#1 the last 2 seasons in Brandon.
Alberta is not as deep offensively as they were...and they are light on right shot D.
The Golden Bears are a team that has been hurt by NHL expansion.
2 more NHL teams, 2 more AHL teams...as a result undrafted 20's out of Junior getting more pro opportunities!

G - Shane Farkas is leaving UPEI for Mount Royal, per Ben Steiner.

He never played a game in two years with the Panthers so he should be eligible right away.

Just noticed SMU recruit Ben Boyd is only 19 and a 2021 draft pick of Columbus.

We’ve saw players in the past decide to go to school with one year of junior eligibility remaining…but I don’t recall many (any?) instances of a guy leaving with two years of eligibility remaining…especially when they’re an NHL draft pick.

Former UNB recruit D - Nathan Larose is showing on McGill’s roster as a redshirt…along with former NHL draft pick F - Zach Gallant.

Question - when someone signs an LOI…is it valid for a certain amount of time? Or does it void after they sign a pro contract?

There is no time limit (that I know if) it simply tells other teams to stop calling as the athlete has made their choice. That said, nothing stops the athlete from changing their mind and reaching out to a school (I believe there is a formal de-commit letter they can submit to USPORTS if they want to open the door to offers again), but the school/team has be careful - the athlete has to call them, they can not engage in making any unsolicited contact.

That's the important part - only the student-athlete can initiate talking to another school.

Big pick up for TMU

The K-Wings also announced Tuesday that forward Daniel D’Amico is electing to take his college package and will be attending Toronto Metropolitan University. As a formality, Kalamazoo has placed D’Amico on suspension to protect his playing rights.
I would love Lakehead to make a big winter add but I feel that after Stewart burned them a couple years ago that won't be happening for a long time

UdeM and UPEI were pushing hard for him.

Apparently he was "committed" to UPEI, until he wasn't.

A couple from the rumor mill - Olivier Adam, Goalie to UdeM next year.
Zach Beauregard, ex-Islander/Moosehead joining UPEI now. He had committed in the fall, but chose not to play. Looks like he'll be on their roster.
