Lakehead has had two 3 games in 3 nights road trips per season starting in 2016-17 to save on travel expenses. Last season, they actually had four of these - two at home and two on the road

Simon Fraser is making a second trip up north before Christmas - they are at Alaska Anchorage for games on Dec 2nd and 3rd after being up there at the beginning of September 2022-23 Men's Ice Hockey Schedule | University of Alaska Anchorage

According to SFU's website they are intentionally expanding their number of games against NCAA Div I and USports schools this year. It will be interesting to see if this leads to their men's hockey team moving into the NCAA or USports in the future. According to the article, there should be 2 additional games against one or both of the Alaska univesities (games already captured in the master schedule against UBC and TWU are also mentioned). They've not posted their 2022/23 schedule yet so there may be more games to come: Simon Fraser University Hockey to Elevate Program with Expanded NCAA Division I and U-Sports Schedule Next Season - SFU Hockey

The games v Sask are new additions. There are still no interlocking games against the ACAC teams.

With Calgary's report, the only missing CW pre-season schedules are for MacEwan, Sask, and Manitoba.

By inference, MacEwan and Manitoba are doing a 3-way round-robin with Regina on Sept 15-17. Regina hosts Manitoba on Sept 15th and Manitoba on Sept 17th. This would mean MacEwan and Manitoba would play on Sept 16th on neutral ice in Regina.

Also by inference, Lakehead and Regina are doing a 3-way round-robin with Manitoba on Sept 23-25. Regina faces Lakehead on Sept 24th and Manitoba on Sept 25th. This would mean Manitoba would host Lakehead on Sept 23rd.

Sask now has three double-headers announced by their opponents: Sept 9-10 vs. Regina, Sept 16-17 vs. Alberta, and Sept 23-24 vs. Calgary. Unless they add a rare Labour Day weekend, that would be a full schedule.

If the foregoing is true, Manitoba has Regina and MacEwan on Sept 15-16, Lakehead and Regina on Sept 23-25, and North Dakota on Oct 1. (Manitoba opens with a conference bye on Sept 30th and Oct 1st.) Meanwhile, MacEwan would have Mount Royal on Sept 10-11, Manitoba and Regina on Sept 16-17, and an empty spot on Sept 23-24.

It is possible that Manitoba would face a college opponent on Sept 9-10, and MacEwan could do likewise on Sept 23-24. Of note, no CW vs. ACAC pre-season games have been announced.

The BCIHL has a complete conference schedule released all at once. This year is unique in that there is intense regionalism in pre-season. VIU and Victoria play one another four teams and the interior teams in Logan Lake and Okanagan play each other twice.

Oregon's web page has their (Div I ACHA) team paying a return visit to Victoria Feb. 24-25.

Someone needs to tell me how I feel about games against ACHA squads. Eastern Washington was an ACHA program that would eventually join, and then leave, BCIHL. As the BC college circuit muddles around trying to figure out what it is - varsity? club? community - do they improve their standing by playing against ACHA competition? Would they be better off seeking out games against ACAC teams, which are a little farther away, but maybe not much more in the grand scheme of things, and probably offer competition which is higher profile? Does the prospect going to the US entice players to sign on to the program?

A couple of ACHA teams came to visit the Bisons and both were really weak. I doubt that "status" has anything to do with this. The ACAC is better than the BCIHL, especially now that Selkirk and Trinity have left. Eastern Washington had two teams and the BCIHL was the 1st team.

The two newest teams are "independent college transfer" teams, which is a unique designation. Without this, they were down to three teams. I'm interested in seeing how this works.

No word on whether the Captain's Cup will continue as a pre-season event again in British California. Last year it included Victoria and Vancouver Island from the BCIHL.

The BCIHL schedule has:
Sept 17 Trinity Western at Simon Fraser

Could it be that TWU has just two exhibition games?

Supposedly a full schedule is to be announced on Monday.

Sep 24th Queen's at Western (has been added to Queen's schedule)

Probably safe to add Ottawa at Western on Sept 23rd even though neither school has posted pre-season games
