B-Sens win! 6-5 in OT, what an exciting game!

Best forward: Crookshank
Best defenseman: JBD
Goalie: The score is deceptive. Mandolese stole the game. The better team lost the game and he was the reason why. Outplayed Primeau throughout the game, though the latter came up big in OT and gave his team every chance to win it.

- JBD is close. Kept improving as the game went on to the point where he was the only defenseman that felt "safe" and seemed to control the game when he was on the ice in the 3rd. Limited offense, but he'll make a perfect partner to Chabot, Brannstrom or Sanderson soon if he keeps this up.
- Thomson: So skilled offensively. Lethal shot, menacing offensive instincts, superb skating, but he can seem lackadaisical in his own zone at times. If he commits to smartly engaging defensively and cleans up the recurring one or two brain fart giveaways a game, he'll be an outstanding two way D in the NHL.
- Guenette: Work in progress. Good hands, accurate shot, sneaky offensive IQ, but shies away from physical contact. He HATES retrieving pucks behind the net and doesn't mind giving up possession as a result. - Larsson: Absolutely awful tonight.
- Rubins: Overall, second best defenseman on the ice tonight.
- Heatherington: Not without fault, but he complemented JBD well.

- Sokolov: A step behind at the AHL level. It'd be very concerning if he didn't play much better last year. He needs to pick the pace up. Badly.
- Jarventie: Pleasant surprise. Everyone knows he can score, it's the rest that was always in question and tonight, he had all the answers. Fast, physically engaged, backchecked hard, battled an opposing forward behind his own net at one point and so on. Those are all things he seldom did last year. He still has a bomb of a shot and looks even more menacing in the offensive zone, especially on the PP. There was a presence to him on this ice in this game. Pair all that with his age and size and you're talking about quite a tantalizing prospect. Badly wanted Peterka in the 2nd round in 2020, but for the first time since then, it'd actually be a tough choice if this is Jarventie's path going forward.
- Crookshank: NHL player. Feisty, fearless, skilled, tenacious. Played like an animal tonight. Better than Kelly/Watson, should bump Motte down to the 4th line and play in Formenton's spot until the latter returns (if ever...).
- Lodin: Came alive in the 3rd and flashed his skills. Nice depth scorer if all pans out.
- Daoust: He's smart and composed... with a decent amount of skill, BUT his play continues to scream everything, but "NHL player".
Good to hear that you liked what you saw from Jarventie.

In one of the preseason games they had played him at centre…. I think just because of not having the full roster available.

I really liked that idea as he’d be forced to move his feet more, have the puck on his stick more, and just generally be more involved the game than when playing wing. Hope they do it some more in the regular season.

Roster Notes: for tonight's game

It didn’t take long for the injury bug to bite the Sens, with two players already injured prior to last night’s game and another pair leaving the game in Laval. Mads Sogaard was removed from the game less than five minutes in, after taking a knee to the head from Rafael Harvey-Pinard, who was crashing the crease. Ridly Greig also left the game following the first period, with Head Coach Troy Mann saying postgame that Greig “tweaked something” and would be re-evaluated today. Other injuries include Jonathan Aspirot, who won’t play until at least December after undergoing summertime shoulder surgery and Matt Wedman, who may play Wednesday as he works his way back from injury. With that in mind, Belleville will go with 11 forwards and seven defenders tonight and Antoine Bibeau will make his Belleville Sens debut in goal.

looks like the bsens are going with all black numbers on the sleeves this year instead of the red outline in the past for the white jerseys

Great to be 2-0 and important to have a winning culture but always less exciting when all the scoring is done by vets and not our high profile prospects.

Yeah, our AHL team going well is the most important thing this season. It'd be great if they can at least win a playoffs round. And then maybe go far next year? This should pay off well by our 9-10th rebuilding year!

Download the DuckDuckGo web browser app on your phone and use it for HF. I have zero ads.

In fact it always surprises me when I come here on the lap top and see all the ads everywhere.

I have an ad blocker but for some reason on this day when I tried to click on a thread it consistently took me to another ad site or page & even within the thread when I tried to go to another page it again took me to another site. It doesn't seem to be happening today. I f**king hate ads. Thanks though, I' ll keep it in mind, much appreciate it.
