2-1 for the good guys in Belleville halfway through the 2nd. A few quick notes:

- Montreal has been dominating the period so far. There's even less defensive structure in Belleville than in Ottawa.
- Thomson scored the go ahead goal on a mid-air tip off of a Crookshank shot. He's very skilled with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone, no question.
- Crookshank is an NHL player. No business playing on an AHL 4th line with Paré and Sabourin. Based on the eye test, best mix of drive, compete level and skill on the team tonight.
- Larsson looks slow and disengaged so far. Mistakes galore.
- Sokolov, not as dominant as you'd liker. Some rust to shake off.
- Still not a huge fan of JBD's defense style (goes too early and way too often), but he's much improved from last year at both ends of the ice.

Last minute of the period in a 4-1 game, no need to be pinching. Bad ice/bad pass or not, Lassi has to be smarter.

4-2 Belleville after 2.

- The play evened out in the second half of the period.
- Mandolese has been the difference since coming in relief for the injured Sogaard. Outplaying Primeau and giving his team a chance to capitalize on counter attacks, as Belleville has had minimal zone time/sustained attack.
- Crookshank elevated to the 1st line with Chartier and Sokolov in the second half of the period. Mann seems to have the pulse of the team.
- Jarventie looks very comfortable at the AHL level. A lot faster and a lot more engaged at both ends of the ice than last year. Still automatic on the PP with that shot. Nice prospect.
- Got to give him props, JBD is defending HARD and being extremely physical. He clearly wants to play with his buddies in Ottawa.

Chartier with an absolute snipe, Sokolov with an awesome stretch pass to create the 2 on 1

B-Sens win! 6-5 in OT, what an exciting game!

Best forward: Crookshank
Best defenseman: JBD
Goalie: The score is deceptive. Mandolese stole the game. The better team lost the game and he was the reason why. Outplayed Primeau throughout the game, though the latter came up big in OT and gave his team every chance to win it.

- JBD is close. Kept improving as the game went on to the point where he was the only defenseman that felt "safe" and seemed to control the game when he was on the ice in the 3rd. Limited offense, but he'll make a perfect partner to Chabot, Brannstrom or Sanderson soon if he keeps this up.
- Thomson: So skilled offensively. Lethal shot, menacing offensive instincts, superb skating, but he can seem lackadaisical in his own zone at times. If he commits to smartly engaging defensively and cleans up the recurring one or two brain fart giveaways a game, he'll be an outstanding two way D in the NHL.
- Guenette: Work in progress. Good hands, accurate shot, sneaky offensive IQ, but shies away from physical contact. He HATES retrieving pucks behind the net and doesn't mind giving up possession as a result. - Larsson: Absolutely awful tonight.
- Rubins: Overall, second best defenseman on the ice tonight.
- Heatherington: Not without fault, but he complemented JBD well.

- Sokolov: A step behind at the AHL level. It'd be very concerning if he didn't play much better last year. He needs to pick the pace up. Badly.
- Jarventie: Pleasant surprise. Everyone knows he can score, it's the rest that was always in question and tonight, he had all the answers. Fast, physically engaged, backchecked hard, battled an opposing forward behind his own net at one point and so on. Those are all things he seldom did last year. He still has a bomb of a shot and looks even more menacing in the offensive zone, especially on the PP. There was a presence to him on this ice in this game. Pair all that with his age and size and you're talking about quite a tantalizing prospect. Badly wanted Peterka in the 2nd round in 2020, but for the first time since then, it'd actually be a tough choice if this is Jarventie's path going forward.
- Crookshank: NHL player. Feisty, fearless, skilled, tenacious. Played like an animal tonight. Better than Kelly/Watson, should bump Motte down to the 4th line and play in Formenton's spot until the latter returns (if ever...).
- Lodin: Came alive in the 3rd and flashed his skills. Nice depth scorer if all pans out.
- Daoust: He's smart and composed... with a decent amount of skill, BUT his play continues to scream everything, but "NHL player".
