Still possible though, because the tournament starts well after the end of the first round of the playoffs. Edmonton is going to make the playoffs, then we'll see. I wouldn't be surprised at all if McDavid and others made it to the 2nd round, but if they don't, Draisaitl would be free for the World Championships.

Seidenberg has confirmed that he will play, no word on Greiss yet.

Will be interesting to see who will join from the two DEL-finalists. Wolfsburg has Brückmann and Fauser, München aus den Birken, Abeltshauser, Boyle, Kahun, Macek, Y.Seidenberg, Flaake and maybe Mauer.

No Marcel Goc?

He is injured. Got a terrible knee inury in January.

He tore his ACL, also injured is LCL, I think, and got a severe bone bruise.
He should be ready to go for training camp for next season.

Interesting to see Tiffels hanging around. Noticed him couple of times on the PK, might be his role.

Looks like a really decent team for german standards. If Oilers (Draisaitl) or Pens (Kuhnhackl) lose in 4, that would bring even more quality.

In fact with Slovakia icing one of their worst teams in history, Germany should make the quarterfinals with home advantage. If Draisaitl comes over, they absolutely have to make it.

Will still have to cut at least two players for the tournament. Right now the roster is at 27 players, the maximum is 25. Seeing how Sturm will definately keep a spot open for Draisaitl or Holzer, depending on who loses out to the other, it should probably be three if not four players who don't get nominated. Though it might be possible that only those who play in the first game actually get nominated, with everyone else sticking around.

I guess Zerressen would be the most obvious to be cut on defense, but beyond that I don't really know. Tiffels maybe, as he has the least experience on the team.

any chance of Markus Eisenschmid making the team now that his season in the AHL is over. I know he's had injury problems this year so I don't know if he's healthy or not.

Doubtful. I think he's still injured or at least hurt, though I'm not sure. However, even if he's healthy, I don't think Sturm would add a player this late unless he's a proven commodity (e.g. Draisaitl, Holzer or Kühnhackl).
