This would be nice... I think the team that finishes 1st in the Eastern Conference makes it to the Eastern Conference final (there is a pretty clear top 3 teams here, IMO). From there:

If that #1 team is Peterborough, I think they will play Missy in the conf final and it will go 7 games just as you have it here - complete tossup on the winner.

If that #1 team is Oshawa, I think whoever of Peterborough/Missy comes through the hard way (East semi-final between #2 and #3 seeds will be tough in any scenario) probably beats the Gens in 5 or 6.

Regardless of whether it's Peterborough or Mississauga, I don't suspect they beat the west winner.

Can't make any WC predictions until we know who gets the #3 seed in the west (currently a toss-up, in my opinion, with London two points up with the more difficult schedule and OS holding the tiebreaker).

My Eastern Conference predictions will probably consist of the odds of the EC winner beating the WC winner, which I expect will be somewhere in the 30% range.

I'm looking forward to this topic in a few weeks, though!

I expect the 4-5 series in each conference to be awfully exciting, especially if Windsor and Owen Sound happens.

Whoever makes I put of the West should have an easy time with the East winner. Peterborough and Oshawa are more on the level of the lower seeds in the West like Kitchener and Flint.

My Greyhounds match up very favourably against London and can compete with Owen Sound, but have always had trouble with Erie. I'll be hoping that they somehow get knocked out before the Conference Finals, but I doubt it will happen. It's going to be fun watching the 4 best teams in the league go at it in the second round.

Your starting the first round in the west wrong - Kitchener cannot pass Windsor in the standings - they have 5 games left ( 10 points) and they are 14 points back. Although I have been know to get my math equations wrong:)

This isn't absolutely crazy because of the Generals relatively easy schedule going forward with the last game of the regular season being against the Petes. Six point difference right now means Oshawa would have to count on the Petes losing about half their remaining games and Oshawa winning the majority of their remaining games to get a shot at the Conference title. Someone else can do the actual math.

Four of the six remaining games the Petes play Erie, Hamilton (twice) and Oshawa - all potential losses given the Petes record against these teams. Oshawa plays Kingston and Ottawa both twice more and I believe they have played Oshawa tough this year. It should be a barn-burner anyway you look at it.

I'm sure you want the Pete's to finish 1st as I do want the Generals to finish 1st, I would love to have it come down to the last match up of the season winner finishes 3rd. I would be proud of the Generals accomplishment as they traded away 2 of there better players @ the deadline and still competing.
If anyone going to the March 19th game Pete's vs Gens I advise you to get your tickets early as this will be a definite sellout.

There's already only 6 non-single/non-standing room seats left. Gens fans have sold out 5 of the last 6 games despite trading away Cirelli/Vande Sompel

Playoff predictions are not always entirely accurate no matter what way you slice it it's more guess work I'd think the Niagara Ice Dogs would of last season would have something to say for a team who finished in the bottomed half of the of the eastern conference standings last year and ended up going to the league final against London Knights

This isn't a prediction but I will say this....

Ottawa is 3-2-1 vs the Generals so far this year. They have two games against each other during this final stretch.

I am pretty certain that the Generals will nail down the #3 seed and not pass Peterborough. So, for an Ottawa vs Oshawa round one matchup, the 67's would need to finish in 6th place. Sudbury has a fairly easy schedule which means Ottawa would need to go on a good final push through to the playoffs. To accomplish that, it is likely that Ottawa will have beaten the Generals at least one of those two remaining games.

I know this is still a long shot match up but if it does happen it would mean the 67's enter the playoffs on a roll and will have won the season series vs the Generals. Since they seem to match up best against Oshawa, I could potentially see a 1st round upset with Ottawa taking out Oshawa in the first round.

That being said, I see Sudbury finishing 6th with their easy schedule. That puts the 67's up against Missy or the Pete's and I don't see Ottawa matching up well against either.

Oshawa has definitely impressed this year - always a well-coached team with great fans. They've become a perennial threat in the East like some of West teams (Lon, Kit, SSM and Erie). The Petes have no guarantees going forward in the East. Mississauga is an equally high hurdle for the Petes to jump over. I feel the Petes are the favourites to win the East based on their depth at forward but have some challenges in their own end and we tend to count on good goaltending too much.

Oshawa is 3-0-0 at home
and Ottawa is 3-0-0 at home

weird because Ottawa seems to struggle with everyone else at home but the Gens. Regardless though, Ottawa would need to get over the hump and finally win a game at the TCC.
