Was going to make this thread today, I'll post my picks later.

OP, could you include the link from last year's thread? It would be nice to archive each year so we can look back at who folks would have taken. I know ChadS posted it recently.

#9: Gabe Vilardi (was considering Necas or Liljegren)
#38: Jason Robertson
#71: Alexei Lipanov
#79: Nikita Popugayev
#83: Ivan Lodnia
#88: Lucas Elvenes
#100: Alexander Chmelevski
#131: Jakub Galvas
#162: Ivan Chekhovich
#164: Pavel Koltygin
#193: Brady Lyle

I went BPA, probably should've got a few blue liners but ehh.

#9: C Martin Necas
#38: D Gustav Lindstrom
#71: D Kasper Kotkansalo (no chanche for Ikonen or Räsänen with this pick, you use a 2nd on them, you lose Lindström)
#79: C Zach Gallant
#83: G Keith Petruzelli
#88: D Malte Setkov
#100: W Nikita Popugaev
#131: F Parker Foo (instead of D Cole Fraser)
#162: RW Sebastian Repo (instead of RW John/Jack Adams)
#164: D Reilly Webb
#193: G Cayden Primeau (another goalie instead of Brady Gilmour)

- Necas, instead of Rasmussen
- drop Zablocki, and get Popugaev later on
- Parker Foo, to secure another Foo, leave that enforcer defenceman on the table.
- extra goalie

The Wings went:

#9: Michael Rasmussen, C
#38: Gustav Lindstrom, D
#71: Kasper Kotkansalo, D
#79: Lane Zablocki, RW
#83: Zachary Gallant, C
#88: Keith Petruzzelli, G
#100: Malte Setkov, D
#131: Cole Fraser, D
#162: Jack Adams, C
#164: Reilly Webb, D
#193: Brady Gilmour, C

I'd have gone something like this:

#9: Gabriel Vilardi, C
#38: Gustav Lindstrom, D
#71: Alexei Lipanov, C
#79: Kasper Kotkansalo, D (if he's gone I'd take David Farrance, D)
#83: David Farrance, D (If he had to be selected at 79 I'd take Ivan Lodnia RW)
#88: Keith Petruzzelli, G
#100: Adam Ruzicka, C
#131: Malte Setkov, D (if he's selected I would take Leon Gawanke, D)
#162: Jack Adams, C
#164: Artyom Minulin, D
#193: Vladimir Kuznetsov, RW/LW

I'd have loved to have been able to take Denis Smirnov at 162 or 164 but he went to the Avs at 156. Overall, I kept 5 of the Wings picks though I moved 2 of the picks down in the draft. This is still a draft that adds some grit and NHL size in players like Ruzicka, Setkov, and Adams but also has high end skill in Lipanov, Vilardi, Farrance, and Kuznetsov.

I went Centre heavy

I assumed all players taken before our pick in that round would still have been, however if our pick was before they were chosen then I was free to make that pick

#9: Gabe Vilardi (c)
#38: Jaret Anderson-Dolan (c)
#71: Alexi Lipanov (c)
#79: Gustav Lindstrom (d)
#83: Keith Petruzzeli (g)
#88: Clayton Phillips (d)
#100: Michael Anderson (d)
#131: Jacob Peterson (c)
#162: Reilly Webb (d)
#164: Morgan Baron (c)
#193: Brady Gilmour (c)

9. C Martin necas - possession monster, leader, righty
38. C Joni Ikonen- just went with skill here
71. D Kasper Kotkansalo - hits, good poise, committed to boston
79. D Cale Fleury- good hockey name
83. LW Nikita Popugaev- there's our big guy, has some skill too
88. G Keith Petruzzeli- why not take a goalie
100. D Mikey Anderson- bpa
131. D Sebastian Aho- overager but I don't care
162. RW Jack/John Adams- big guy.
164. RW Petrus Palmu - little guy. Long shot for us all to cheer for
193. D Artyom Minulin - went undrafted, not sure why

Sign Pavel Shen and Rickard Hugg
Really wanted to go Lipanov in the 3rd but 3 centers looked funny

See http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftsearch.htm.

9- Necas
38- Lindstrom is fine
71- Lipanov
79- Farrance
83- Gallant is fine
88- Petruzzelli is fine
100- Safin
131-Fraser, ok I guess
162- Adams, ok I guess
164- Webb, ok I guess
193- Kemp

Just want with players that were drafted.

Anyone hear of any players invited to rookie camp? I heard Kaden Fulcher, but didn't see a link.

I mean, what is location, really
9. Vilardi
38. Lindstrom
71. Dmitri Samorukov
79. David Farrance
83. Nikita Popugaev
88. Keith Petruzzelli
100. Ostap Safin
131. Jacob Golden
162. Alexander Chmelevski
164. Artem Minulin
193. Rickard Hugg

This would be an incredible draft. Skill coming out the ears, but also size and scoring on the wing, a big goalie with serious potential, and a serious investment in high potential defensemen.

#9: Vilardi
#38: Lindstrom
#71: Lipanov
#79: Samorukov
#83: Farrance
#88: Petruzzeli
#100: Reedy
#131: Cates
#162: Leivermann
#164: Chmelevski
#193: Primeau

Looking at how the draft went, it's really too bad we didn't try and pick up another 2nd rounder. Would have been great to take someone like Morand, Ikonen, Brook in that 50-60 range.

Wouldn't have taken those players, too small.

Though I do like your picks.

It happens when you pay attention to the draft.:handclap:

Also, highly recommend the Black Book. Got it late and knew a lot of prospects for 2017, but it has a ton of info for 2018, 2019, etc.

I got the paperback(how I roll), but I think a poster like you would enjoy it.

I will be picking that up next year. Given where hockeyprospect.com has our guys ranked per eliteprospects.com, I think it would have just pissed me off this year.

I feel like CHL prospects are being under drafted now.
I don't now if it's the Hakan effect or the fact you have an extra year/s to sign them...

Something similar to:

#9: Necas
#38: Lipanov (would not have waited any longer to take him)
#71: Fleury
#79: Petruzelli
#83: Samorukov
#88: Gallant or Farrance
#100: Virtanen
#131: Chmelevski
#162: Weissbach
#164:Brind'Amour
#193: Chekhovich

For the record I have no real beef with our picks of Lindstrom, Kotkansalo, Gallant (who I wanted), Petruzzelli (who I wanted even more), Setkov, Adams or Webb.

This is mostly Euro's because I have very little knowledge of North Americans outside the 1st round.

#9: Gabe Vilardi, F
#38: Gustav Lindström, D
#71: Alexei Lipanov, F
#79: Dmitri Samourokov, D
#83: Keith Petruzzelli, G
#88: Alexei Toropchenko, F
#100: Igor Shvyrev, F
#131: Calle Själin, D
#162: Jack Adams, F
#164: Ivan Chekhovich, F
#193: David Kvasnicka, D

Five Russians in one draft probably won't happen any time soon, for any team!
