I dont think theres a bigger Joseph fan then me around here, but top 15 is a bit much.. top 25 is more like it.

But I agree he is going to absolute break out offensively next year, with no Brisebois/Meloche ahead of him.

Teams really like him from what I've heard, many will be surprised where he goes if I were a betting man. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the 3rd/4th D off the board.

What's a good NHL comparable?

Now i'm no pro at this, but personally I think he has alot of stylistic comparisons to Vlasic. Defense first guy, mobile, can play all situations, calm as can be, great hockey mind.

I think Joseph, like Vlasic, has been a little hesitant in the offensive zone this year. I personally think we will see that open up a bit next season though being the #1 Dman in Charlottetown. This year is going to be a big test for him, but in my eyes he is the best NHL quality prospect Charlottetown has ever seen (Sorry Sprong and Chlapik).

Brännström potentially available for us. That would be exciting.

Our 2nd draft pick is 48?

Isn't '' 48: Luukkonen '' the 2nd goalie people are talking about with Dipietro and Oettinger?

I understand the whole don't take a goalie with a 1st, and i agree unless there is a major gap in BPA, which is probably not. But if that guy is available at 48, should we take a chance?

Yeah we have Calgary's 2nd.

I'm really struggling, as I realise we kind of have to grab a goalie, but it should be with our later picks. If a guy like Josh Brook (47 on Bob's list) is there at 48, I'd be quite mad if we bypassed him for a lotto ticket in net.

I know you know a lot about junior, is there some good goalie prospect, let's say next year?

Sens are high on Hogberg and like a lot of people say, goalie are scrap book. We might have our futur #1 in Hogberg, we simply don't know, what is for sure, his progression has been very good thus far.

It would not be the end of the world if we don't take one this year. Anyway, go BPA. if it is a goalie it is. If it is Brook, take Brook or another.

Next year there are quite a few top Q goalies at least in Gravel/Mandolese/Rodrigue all have potential and Jakub Skarek gained a ton of steam at the WJC this year.. All could be potential first rounders next year if everything goes right..

But Groulx was also at the combine for us (Our goalie coach), which is very abnormal.. Makes me think we are going after a top goalie prospect this year..

But one thing is for sure.. The next week is going to be fun :D

Yeha it would make sense but which one, and with what pick?

with our 1st, it would not be the ideal choice. With our 2nd, it would make more sense if Dipietro or Luukkonen is still available. Still always depending if they are BPA.

In my opinion we grab one in the first, whoever we think is the best..

We are pushing our luck asking at least one of the big 3 to fall to our 2nd and go through Dallas twice, Arizona, Colorado, Vegas, Buffalo.. all who could be looking at a goalie in that rang..

So our options, in my opinion, are take one in the 1st or try and trade back to no later then 36ish.. But if Oettinger is our guy we take him at 28 cause if we dont, Dallas will at 29..

I know very little, to nothing about evaluating goalies. Main reason I never discuss goalie prospects, and never even looked at them when evaluating guys.

Groulx was also at the combine for us in 2014 and 15, so it's not really out of the ordinary.

I feel what you say. i would not be mad IF for them Oettinger is the player the think is BPA. But i understand the point that you can trade for an already almost ready to be #1 for less than a first.

Oh okay. It was worth asking. I respect what you say most of the time even if i don't always agree.
You know what you are talking about, i find.

The entertainment of Friday night in me wants to make a pick in the first round.. but looking at Bobs 2nd round.. and without doing any research on who has 2 2nds or whether that would be the going price for a late 1st.. i almost think the best move is to move back for 3 picks in the second and go 2 bps's and pick a goalie.

47th. in the 2nd.

Brannstrom .in the first I would take him personally.. In general if someone unexpected falls and he is BPA take him imo. Oettinger is the best G available. I do not know the gap between 1, 2 and 3 goalies though.

I would be very happy with one of Brannstrom, Timmins or Joseph with our first. And if they all go before we pick, that means some damn good forwards will be there.

I'm firmly in the camp that we shouldn't be drafting a goaltender with one of our first two picks. Vegas should have a few good young 1Bs to sell off after the ED.

May be off topic but with all the talk of late birthdays and draft year I am wondering where being a late birthday is an advantage?

My son is late Nov birthday and just starting hockey but is almost a year younger than many of the kids he plays against and the physical advantage to them is huge.

He will always be at a disadvantage as far as I can tell so is it only once you reach junior and at that stage the evaluation becomes an extra year of junior hockey compared to the others?

So what is the difference when being compared to a kid who is 3 months older and has been able to dominate competition their entire life, in part, to being a year more physically developed?

Genuinely interested to better understand.

Id take Joseph at 15. I think he has a chance to be this years rising dman in Chabot

To be honest. I don't see the offensive potential in Joseph. I see him topping out as a 2nd pairing shutdown guy at best.

I certainly dont think he has the offensive potential that Chabot has either, but hes going to be a 2nd pair two way guy that skates well. Typically those type of guys are picked around 15 if you want him
