With some of the tournaments starting next week, felt a new thread for this year needed to be made.

Interesting to see Division III so crowded this year (with 8 teams); have to think that depending on how it goes, and what happens at the IIHF's annual congress, they may split it up, though they may also want another team to join, though that doesn't seem likely right now.

Always enjoy following these tournaments and seeing what countries do well and get promoted and what ones get demoted. Poland hasn't been in the main World Championships since 2002, be nice to see them back.

Nice to see Katic is eligible to play for Croatia, he was looking for it from the moment he signed with Medvescak. Zanoški finally on roster, he was sacked by coach Raymond during 12/13 (last season in EBEL) and missed only two weeks to gain eligibilty.

If all players actually shows up I could see us battle for 1st place.

There was talk a few months back of Gilbert Bruce wanting to play for Croatia

Also will be interesting seeing Mike Keenan coaching the Chinese team this year in div 3

Who's that?

China doesn't play in Division III and Mike Keenan will not be their coach.
.

Don't crucify me for iPhone spellcheck it's Gilbert Brule.

What I read was that Keenan will coach Kunlun and the national team.

Haha wow, straight for the jugular.

You know, Poland isn't all that bad. I mean, it's not likely to happen but we've seen greater surprises before.

What did I write? Don't remember...
Anyway Poland has a decent chance to grab the first two places for sure. I don't mind it if we go up too ;)
Ukraine on the other hand...

Yeah, Ukraine, as they are right now, don't have a chance. Their NT level has really gone downhill over the last 10 years.

Will play Lyszczarczyk? He is just 19years old.

He also had a pretty damn bad season. Still I'd say yes, he should make the bottom six on merit.

Spain's loss in the opener kinda answers all questions in D2A, Romania as always is missing half of their best players and still cruising through the competition.

At this point the gap between elevator teams and the rest of D2A is just too damn huge. Estonians dominated everyone 2 years ago, the Netherlands won last year without Tilburg players and Romanians missing Tamas Biro, Zsolt Molnar, Zsombor Molnar, Becze, Szocs, Adorjan, Moldovan, Lorincz, Virag, Goga, Papp, Antal, Petres, Robert Peter seem to be having an easy time as well. That's 14 players missing and fair enough, few of them probably wouldn't make the team for on ice reasons but for the most part those are guys way above ones on the current roster.
