Marner just needs to get stronger. Good thing he's got heart and determination because he's easy to knock off the puck but he never gives up and doesn't let that stop him.
He desperately needs to get stronger and needs to improve his speed.

The one thing I tried to tell people at the time of the draft is that Marner is not exceptionally fast. He is slippery, agile and evasive, but he lacks top end speed and doesn't have that extra gear to get a step on defenders. He needs that extra jump to create more opportunities off the rush. As it stands right now, he gets boxed out way too much.

Something i'm sure he will improve on with time and training. No prospect is perfect.

Canada dominating the game when Swedes have 12 returning players and 19 year olds is a bit surprising.

Makes sense to me. Lowry ripped them a new one yesterday.

Sweden is worrying about the real games as most veteran teams do in exhibition.

Marner is used to controlling the play and doing what he wants in the O. He's going to learn to pick his spots and be more selective with his play as he moves up the ranks... all part of the typical development of a skill player. People need to be patient. He's 18 yrs old in a tournament where experienced 19yo tend to outperform the younger players.

Pretty much, 18s year old in a 19yo dominated tournament. Hard to dominate like some may be expecting.

Sweden had the puck and were trying to break it out, you don't just dump the puck out to center and lose possession there, if you can't make an outlet pass there everyone in Nylander's position there circles back. If the defenceman didn't get in Nylander's way he would have restarted the breakout and Sweden get the puck out with possession like a breakout normally does.

It's not like Canada was forechecking hard and Sweden just had to get it out, that was a routine breakout that went wrong because they collided, not a spot where you just dump the puck out

lots of excuses to cover for a simple mistake

Willie had the puck and was cut off and with a man on your back you make the safe play and dump it into an open space and yes it's the exact situation you dump the puck out .

He will. People thinking he will be just 160 next season are fooling themselves

he was 160 when we draft him so if he hasn't gained weight in the 6 months since how much do you expect him to gain in another 6 months or so ?

That was 100% a goal. Question is, did William tip it or did it go straight in?
