I guess they did, they announced it after the goal over the rink PA. Not sure the exact rule for poking a puck off a guy stick like that though. Must need to have some sort of possession for it to be an assist.

Oh okay, nice he definitely deserved it on that play.

Nowhere I've seen. I think those guys are just...off. They look at the play where he got an assist, but can't seem to figure it out.

I have to disagree. Either pick gives us a star yes, but 1 of these guys is better than the other.

Possession stats from individual game aren't very valuable, but still interesting. Strong possession from Matthews on a weak US team. He's going to be a possession beast under Babcock's system and with guys like Marner and JVR on his wings.

Yeah, I'm sure Marner is a goal per game in the playoffs and having 57 shots in 16 playoff games because he never shoots .

A good way to create offense is moving the puck. Sure, you might want guys to shoot more but there is nothing wrong with trying to make good plays.

That must be it because he touched the puck in the scramble goal vs Canada and didn't get an assist on that one either.

In the NHL he'd get assists for both
