It actually seems later than usual. My recollection is the 100m final is on the second Saturday of the games, and the 4x100m is a week later. This year, the 100m final is on a Sunday and the relay final is on a Friday.

Looks like they've switched around the men's and women's 100.

Our only potential medal event, javelin, got in the news today with the bronze medalist from London, Antti Ruuskanen, getting a silver medal after all. The silver medalist from Ukraine was caught in the re-tests for an anabolic steroid. Ruuskanen will be competing in these games as well.

Will never understand why Racewalk is a thing.

Well, billions of people around the world walk (at least one foot on ground at all times) everyday and it is the most fundamental movement there is, so why not make a competition out of it? Just be glad that athletics aren't organized by the swimming federation or you'd see the 300m backwards run, 750m speed skipping and the 55m barrel roll as actual events.

So many salty swimming haters. Just because you don't understand why different swimming strokes exist and are a part of the competition doesn't mean your loose comparative analogies that make no sense apply.

Brienne has 1097. Ennis Hill has 1149.
(Brienne is 6th).

I hope Brienne is just nervous, and nothing is up. she ran that so tight and just didn't look good.

Okay, I am not even close to knowledgeable enough about the points system in Heptathlon to know the answer to this, but is that a deficit Brienne can easily make up in the final 6 events? Or is Ennis Hill too strong for that to be a possibility?

Really disappointing crowds. Not a huge fan of the loud music in the background too, pretty off putting.

Someone test them.

Amazing performance but very suspicious given build up to the games

She did a similar thing in an earlier race this year.

Holy ****, she shattered the previous record which was set by the doped up Chinese. :amazed: :amazed:

29:17.49!

Lots of new PBs set in this race, even the runner up got close to the previosu WR.
