Hearing Gauthier and Keller are falling. Gauthier one dimensional and Keller have a poor playoffs. Jost, Bellows, Rubtsov?

Just curious where you saw that about Keller? As I understand it, the USNTDP teams aren't eligible for the USHL playoffs (and the USHL still has ~5 games left in the regular season).

Yes, curious about Keller falling. The U18s will give us a better glimpse at all these guys playing at essentially the same talent level, so I'm really interested in seeing how that turns out. There isn't a particular player I'm set on taking, although I really do like Keller. We'll just have to see.

Well there you have it...he has 0 points in the playoffs :sarcasm:

Maybe you meant Jost instead of Keller? Jost's team was ousted in the BCHL playoffs in the 2nd round. Can't seem to find it now, but I could have sworn I read something about Jost skipping the U18 due to injury?

Edit: http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/prospect-need-to-know-bostons-latest-shutdown-threat/

Injury Report: Tyson Jost will have his injured hand examined by a specialist this week to see if he’ll be able to play for Canada at the world under-18s in North Dakota. The 200-foot center is committed to the NCAA’s Fighting Hawks, so an early appearance in Grand Forks would be fun, but obviously his priority is to make sure the 2016 first-round prospect doesn’t make things worse in the short-term.

So it looks like we'll probably be picking somewhere in the 11-13 range (unless we win one of the top three picks). We're tied with Carolina and Colorado in points, with a 5 point gap on either side.

We were for a while. Was a pipe dream to think this team was falling into the top 10 after the successful Cali trip.

I think he meant Puljujarvi. He's struggled a bit to score at even strength for a bit, so that might affect his stock.

As for PLD I think it's possible that he breaks into the top-3, but unlikely.

And also, in his first game back from being suspended, Pierre-Luc Dubois scores the game-winning OT goal for Cape Breton Screaming Eagles

I don't want him based solely on the fact that I don't want anyone with a name starting "pierre luc" on our team :P

question, are 1, 2, and 3 as auston matthews, laine/pulju def a lock? or do you see PLD sliding into the 2/3 slot

1,2,3 are pretty much set in stone

I'd say it depends on where the Canucks end up picking. They seem dead set on picking a defenseman, and with Benning at the helm anything's possible.

I certainly agree with taking the Best Player Available and Lord knows I want us to draft a forward, but...... if the forwards we like are gone, and Defenseman Mikhail Sergachev is sitting there, that's not necessarily a bad thing

Can anyone make sense of our 3rd round this year?

Sorry to quote back several pages, but i was interested in finding this out for myself since there are so many conditional picks trading hands in the 3rd round.

These are the picks we 100% own for the next two years:

2016
Devils 1st (#12 overall)
Devils 2nd (#42 overall)
Senators 3rd (#70 overall) - 2015 draft day trade
Red Wings 3rd (#75 overall) - Zidlicky trade
Devils 4th (#102 overall)
Bruins 4th - (#106 overall) - Stempniak trade
Devils 5th (#132 overall)
Devils 6th (#162 overall)
Devils 7th (#192 overall)

2017
Devils 1st
Devils 2nd
Bruins 2nd - Stempniak trade
Avalanche 3rd - Gelinas trade
Devils 4th
Devils 5th
Devils 6th

Conditional picks

Gaining:
Leafs 3rd (Torontos choice of 2016, 2017 & 2018) - Compensation for hiring Lamoriello

Losing:
2017 Devils 3rd - Ruutu trade (Condition is unknown but was presumably met)
2017 Devils 7th - If we re-sign Brian O'Neill

Picks we owned at one point but lost

2016 Devils 3rd - Compensation for hiring John Hynes

2016 Wild/Panthers 3rd - Panthers owned both picks, Devils were to receive the higher of the two in the Jagr trade. This "choice" of pick was subsequently traded to the Ducks in the Palmieri trade
