I am just loving this draft for the Oilers. Here are my notes on Berglund prior to the draft.

Filip Berglund, D

6'3" 209 lbs, 43GP 19-22-41 PTS, Skelleftea (SuperElit), May '97

Pros: Very good size, offensive skills
Cons: A year older as he was passed up last year after putting up only 1-10-11 in 37GP in SuperElit, not overly physical
Bottom line: Not sure of his defensive ability but 19 goals from the blueline is very good. Led all SuperElit defensemen in scoring. Played 5 games in SHL and should be there full-time next year. Apparently talking to NHL teams and should be drafted.

I like this pick. First heard about him from a Lowetide blog. Took him in the HFOil mock draft. He's got some potential to be a home run pick, give him some time to develop more before bringing him over.

Love this pick. Just keep buying lotto tickets on defense. If one of these guys pans out it's a great draft year. Benson has a good shot at being a pro and these D in the 3rd all seem like reasonable bets. It's a crap shoot and these are young players. Would actually not mind drafting nothing but D after landing Puljujarvi and Benson. There are still some good Euro Ds left.

A right shot D lol

Big kid. Put up really good numbers this year in Swedish junior league. Is an over age player?

Swedish Poster: He’s a big kid at 6’3 and already past 200 pounds. He’s an overager, turns 19 in a few (two) days. His draft year was sort of a comeback year after missing a lot of time the previous two seasons due to a broken arm or maybe it was a leg. This year he was up to speed and delivered one hell of a season offensively nearly hitting PPG. As is usually the case with productive D the majority of the points came on the PP where his big shot from the blue line was full value.
...

More in the writeup. Im sure Lowetide will have a nice post about him later. Happy with this pick.

Finally a righty!

Not sure if he'll pan out or not, injuries played a factor in last year's suckage.

I'll wait and see here.

Good pick. Will have a good chance to develope in Skellefteå at the SHL level next season. Played 7 games there last year and did well, best player in one of the games.

With this pick you also get a new fan, I've watched a lot of nhl hockey and have been reading on this forum for a couple of years but only recently created a user. Have not had a team to root for though but now Edmonton is my team.

Good pick. A long shot maybe but has a great upside with his shot and puck skills. Skating needs improvement.

With the limited info I have on this kid I really like this pick.

A big and strong two-way defenseman with good hockey sense and passing ability. Valuable on the man advantage with a strong release and good puck control. Not a speedster and should use his large frame to his advantage. (EP 2016)
