Herniated disc & nerve pinch? Screw that. It hurts like crap, the cramps are constant and it would run down a leg, too. Feels like someone is stabbing you just over the ass every time you try to do anything. And it completely immobilizes one, too; even turning in bed is effort.

However, the bright side is that it should be something that can be worked over the summer. He can rest, visit a specialist or two and he is in a great physical condition, so it can be something that he could play with. Granted, I'm basing this solely off my own experiences with the same injury & having read on the subject. Not an MD, nor a qualified expert. Not even trying to claim that I'm one. All I know is that it sucks and hurts like a metric ****ton of ****.

I just have a bad taste in my mouth with Suter this year.

IF what Russo has been saying is true that he is dodging questions about Torch, didn't like playing for him and is demanding as much PP time as possible...I would rather send him packing. This team's powerplay has been atrocious and there are much better players who can do what he does (keep it in the zone and make the initial pass when it does eventually get sent down the other side) and have a solid shot that doesn't make a HS goalie even flinch.

You can read the quotes about dodging the questions, so that's true. But no where has it been written about Suter demanding PP time, at least to my knowledge. It's obvious he wants to be out there for it, but that's not the same as demanding.

I honestly forgot where I heard that he was pushing for as much PP time as he could get. But I assure you it isn't something I conjured up. But I will definitely strike the comment until I can find a reliable source for it.

This also doesn't take into consideration though too that he was certainly up in arms when they removed Spurgeon from his pairing and put Brodin there...something that he has seen for years at that point as his primary partner. His reasoning could be justified, but when the team is struggling and you have comments like that...it does make you wonder a bit what his intentions are.

Also not a fan of Torch rescinding his comments about Suter in the playoffs after he said them as well. Could have been genuine apology on Torch's part though...but it certainly didn't seem that way.

I used to scoff at people with bad backs till I pulled a muscle in my lower back working construction. Completely useless till the swelling went down. Couldn't even sleep lying down, and walked around stooped over like an old man ( I was a pretty fit 20 something at the time).

Some injuries you can play through. Others you can't, but they heal up, and you're good to go. Back injuries fit into neither of those categories, in general. I cringe when I hear the word "disc".

My main worry with Parise is that this will become a recurring injury. If so, it could be a career ender. Just ask Wayne Gretzky, and Mike Bossy.

Russo suggested the PP playing time issue( connected with Torch) when on KFAN after the playoffs.

I think it's just speculation though at this point. In one of the playoff games his PP TOI was something like a ridiculous 4:50 of a possible 5:20 (estimate, don't remember exactly). Maybe that was all him and Torch didn't like it, but that would still just be speculation.

Russo's exact words, "It's pretty clear that Suter doesn't endorse Torchetti coming back".

Paraphrasing now, "He was asked twice about it in the dressing room, and danced around the question. Maybe it's because he wasn't happy with his playing time under Torchetti, and how he wanted to limit his TOI on the PP".

So, yes, it's speculation by Russo.

It kind of blows my mind that Suter would think he didn't get ENOUGH PP TOI. Don't get me wrong, i think Suter is the best player on the team, but his overly deliberate passing and wussy shot has no place on our #1 PP....dare I say on ANY PP?

He would be extremely successful on a PP where he can continuously set someone up I think (ie like he would with Weber in Nashville). That's why I'm kinda surprised it hasn't worked out great with Dumba. Maybe the setup isn't very good.

It could also be, he just doesn't think Torch is an NHL level coach. If Torch is preaching to the team to just chip the puck out of the D zone like they did 9000 times a game in his tenure, Suter is probably smart enough to know that's not a viable strategy for winning.

Torch has been a coach for 20 years, with a number of interim jobs because there weren't better internal options without getting the job. There might be a reason for it...

I think he's too slow at moving the puck. It gives the PK time to reset.

One of the things that made me really want Suter on this team was seeing him play with Rafalski on the US Olympic team in 2010. Suter was the steady presence on the backend who would hold the zone and feed Rafalski for point shots. It's like he's trying to fit into the Rafalski role now and he just doesn't have the offensive instincts for it. I never really watched him much with Weber in Nashville, but I'm assuming it was pretty similar based on Weber's game.

I'm with ya. As the year went on, he seemed like the problem both on and off the ice. Sure he had a bunch of Asst's due to his patent wrister from the point ( feel free to wind up one in a while) but I just am just over him right now. There are no reports but he seems like the one that would be the issue in the locker room - which could go hand and hand with the PP comments that have previously been stated.

I would definitely entertain offers for him, if there are any.

There would be, but he wouldn't.
