Why wouldn't he be? Patrick Kane won it in his only OHL season.

I thought they subsequently changed the eligibility rules. I thought a player in their 18 year old season was no longer eligible. Burakovsky wasn't.

Player has to be in there 16 or 17 year old season. It was changed in 09, the season after Grachev had won ROTY despite being an NHL draft pick already.

I believe those players are eligible because they are in their 17-18 year old season. Burakovsky was in his 18-19 year old season.

I'll second that. I think they're pretty sharp.

On a somewhat related jersey note: More people need to hate the Storm's jersey (and name, if you want to take it further). I don't mind the colours at all - the deep crimson is a nice "royal" colour, and it goes well with the Silver and White/Black. But lordy....could we not have settled on a better name, and if not name, at least a better and less goofy logo! How about something "royal" themed? I dunno - guess it would have been too easy.

I like the logo, but the orange makes them look like a giant Kool-Aid guy and the letters on the back are incredibly tough to read.

This exactly, not a fan of the orange, I know they couldn't go with Plymouth's colors and the Firebird name but just not a fan personally.

How can a coach be underrated if they've never coached in the OHL before?

Good catch (I wasn't paying attention LOL). I'll change it to Stan Butler. He doesn't win much in the playoffs, but there's a reason he's been around this long. He's doing something right.

Yep, I've got a few Spits on my list, but when you don't see much of the league during pre-season, you go with what you know. Latour doesn't get much fanfare, but he's been excellent with us so far and could put up 30 goals. Vertiy has been outstanding so far, much better than last year, and I can see him getting 15-20 goals. DiPietro has been lights-out, so if given a chance, he could challenge for ROY.

Rules

Were you in Warren's office when you made this post?

How can a coach be underrated if they've never coached in the OHL before?

Another thing, I do believe Tkachuk is eligible for ROY, when you read this old post from Terry Doyle - http://loosepucks.com/index.php/2009/09/15/doyle-ohl-finally-adopts-new-rookie-rule?blog=3

To be considered a rookie, and therefore eligible for the Rookie of the Year Award, OHL players must enter the league as a 17-year-old or younger.

Tkachuk is entering the league as a 17 year old. He's not 18 until December 2015.

The rule is in his 16th or 17th birth year,Tkachuk is in his 18th yr by birth late date makes him ineligible.
As for naming a coach who hasn't coach yet was also listed by a London poster in the name of Derian Hatcher, don't see the difference.

The reason he mentioned Thompson was because, when someone posted Tkachuk as a "breakout" player, I asked how he can break out if he's never been in the league. Thompson kind of falls under the same approach.

To all those who believe Alex Debrincat is overrated.. My guess would be you base that on the fact he played with Mcdavid all year and benefited solely from his skill. As someone who watched him play all year I can say next to Mcdavid he was the next most consistent play night in and night out in terms of showing up with effort and skill. Never a night off from the kid. Also he proved with Mcdavid out from injury/WJC that he could produce without him. Can't remember his exact numbers but something like 26-28 points in the 20 or so games without him. This was also before Elie was added to the team and Baptiste joined about mid point of mcdavids absense. So he produced with little help so one would think without Mcdavid and being a year older he should still be a 85-95 point guy. His numbers might lag a bit but Erie's offense as a whole will as they wont be scoring 5-6 goals a game

Don't take it personally when someone calls your team or someone on it overrated. It's not personal, and it's just one fan's opinion on what they have seen - in my case it's usually littered with personal bias, too. I just don't like these posts where a reason (even if a good one) is laid out to dispute someone's personal opinion. You're not changing it anyway, so why worry!

Let the chips fall where they may, and if your player happens to prove some of the naysayers wrong, relish in the fact that you were correct!

I picked Hatcher because I think a lot of people are going to be shocked what he can do as a head coach. I didn't read anywhere in the opening post where it stated eligibility requirements:laugh:

No one else hating the Sarnia Sting basketball jerseys?? It's really an afront to traditional hockey jerseys. Basketball teams should become more like hockey teams, not vice versa.

And personally, I like the Sting logo. It should on both their jerseys.
