It's said around here really often, but I'll say it again anyway. I really wish the Caps offered the Isles more for McDonald even if he's not having the best season.

He's an okay 2nd pairing guy who's been given 1st pairing minutes the past couple years, and been overmatched as a result. His point totals and minutes played are enough for him to legitimately demand a $5M contract over the summer, making him a non-starter as anything but a rental. While he would be an easy asset to add without making additional cap room given his current cap hit, he wouldn't fit into long term plans. If management makes a move now or in the off-season to add a long term LD option, I can live with it. Even given the nature of the current Caps team, it makes sense to consider cheaper short term options as well.

I set the over/under at 2 trades for GMGM and took the over. Penner is that Huet kind of deal you never see coming from McPhee. There could be more, and I do think Erat gets moved but we probably won't be happy with the return.

I don't understand Florida

Markstrom isn't the guy and is never going to be the guy until he matures. Florida gets rid of a nuisance and gets a solid goaltender in return

What's hard to understand? They get a franchise goalie back, someone they can market around, someone who the fans in FLA are already familiar with.

It's a no brainer for that franchise.
