I'm pretty sure Scrivens will start, pre-season's not a great evaluator of goalies.

If he falters, then Fasth will be in fairly quickly IMO.

Not having Nikitin I think will hurt more than we expect unfortunately.

Call it a hunch, but I won't be surprised if Nikitin does not miss a single game.

What I'd like to see but not expecting to see:

Hall-RNH-Yakupov
Perron-2C-Eberle
Pouliot-Draisaitl-Purcell
Hendricks-Gordon-Arcobello

Nikitin-Petry
Klefbom-Schultz
Nurse/Ference-Fayne

Frankly I'm horrified at the roster that MacT is icing to start the year.
I honestly expecting a #2C and top-pairing defenceman. Shame on me. I no longer have any personnel expectations starting this year.

@Bergeron47.

Nikitin-Petry is a little weird. If there's one pairing we know is going to happen, it's Nikitin-Fayne.

No worries, I haven't been paying too much attention to pairings this pre-season.
I just cringe at the thought of Fayne on the first pairing.

Seriously, we need a top-pairing dman. Even just one!

MacT bought two of those this summer...

Nikitin-Fayne

Ya they aren't "real" top pairing dmen... but they are Oilers top pairing dmen. Close enough. :)

i still think Edmonton had what it takes to bring Boychuk in his hometown...

Actually the defense squad looks better than last season, Fayne/Nikitin isn't a big upgrade but it's an upgrade.

Fraser is bigger and more willing to go to the net than Pakarinen, I'd honestly like to see both on the roster next season though.

I don' think either one of those things is true. Fraser probably has a little better scoring touch but that's about it. I'd take Pakarinen over Fraser but ideally neither is here next year. Worst case if they can't pick up some experienced free agents for the third line we have one of Pitlick, Fraser and Parkarinen on the roster next year. For all of Frasers tough talk early on I haven't been impressed with his performance.

Fraser : Height 6.01 -- Weight 215

Pakarinen : Height 6.01 -- Weight 210

Dude 5 Lbs makes all the difference in front of the net

My mistake, I assumed he was bigger because on the ice he has more a physical bite to his game than Pakarinen. I agree in that Pitlick could push out one or the other but I'd ideally like to see Pitlick return to center.

Where do you get your numbers?

Have you seen Pakarinen play?
