Tigers are now tied with X for the last playoff spot. Doubt they can stay there but they do have the goaltending.
Poor STU...another tough loss. Just not their season.
Just an epic fail on their part tonight.
I don't know what they are up to now but Saint Mary's winning streak over STU has to be approaching, if not already exceeded, UNB's over the Tommies.
Moncton and X also going to OT tonight...all of these 3 point games so far are going to make the standings even tighter than usual.
What happened to Moncton...5 wins to start the season and now 4 straight loses.
SMU is red hot and finding ways to win close games. They have, in my opinion "the best goaltender in the CIS ".Took in the game last night at Acadia. Good effort by SMU, less so by ACA. Peters and Glover both were solid. ACA were 2 for 7 PP chances ( 4 which were Delay-of-Game), while SMU was 2 for 2. Other than a couple of good individual rushes by Cazzola, the big line was invisible. Heelis and Thompson were mostly spectators. I came away thinking that if ACA had brought their A game, the result may have been different. I saw again how "easy" it is to play against Duffy and Beyers on the cycle, as they just aren't strong enough.
No game in the big city tonight, so I'll make the trek to Acadia and watch SFX.
I think they were playing a bit over their heads to start the year. Heading into the season I thought they looked worse on paper than last year (I think I predicted them for 6th or so)...things are probably just starting to even out a bit for them.
What's with this Mahalak kid?
Parks or Wilkinson hurt?
According to the UNB game story Tyler Brown broke his fibula and is having surgery to repair it today.
Heard last night that STU tried to recruit Mahalak. Wonder what difference that might have made ...
Parks got injured in the St. FX game back on October 25th. I think he was expected to miss a decent amount of time.
I don't know if Mahalak has been with them all year, or if they brought him in after Parks went down. According to the AUS stats he didn't see any action until after Parks got injured.
EDIT: Looks like Mahalak was released from the Tulsa Oilers on October 16th so it looks like it kind of worked out pretty good for UPEI in terms of the timing. He was a former draft pick for Carolina.
Dal over STU 3-0. Entertaining game, both teams played physical, but nothing mean or dirty. Dal scored a weak 2nd goal and added an empty-netter. Boes was steady, but not spectacular. STU just does not have a lot of finish.
