Figured it would be fun to start up a discussion on our new division foes and how we see ourselves stack up vs them. My opinion

1. Chicago
2. St Louis
3. Nashville
4. Minnesota
5. Dallas
6. Winnipeg
7. Colorado

What do you guys think???

I think we're better than Dallas and Nashville is what I think.

Nashville scored the fewest goals in the league last year and that's not looking like it's going to change soon. Can anyone tell me where the scoring from that lineup is going to come from?

Dallas overall just doesn't have enough going for them IMO. Defense is kinda meh, goaltending is very good, but injury prone, and the forward core is similar to ours (decent first line pieces, one second line piece) but overall worse.

Of course we're putting faith in Pavelec; which never turns out well, but we'll see.

I don't get this. We almost made the playoffs with him playing the way he was. With improvement from our young guys, a healthy lineup, and slight improvement from Pavs I don't see how we could miss the playoffs.

Nashville may jump forward a bit, but them and Dallas are meh. The wild are nothing special either. I don't see why 3rd couldn't be in play.

Not 100% sure till we see the returns of FA though.

I think Dallas is improved with these recent developments. Eriksson is awesome but it might make them deeper.

Only Chicago and St. Louis are clearly better teams. I think we have a great shot edging out Minny for third.

Dallas just got a lot better......might have to re-do my rankings :shakehead

Chevy better catch-up and make some deals in the nuclear-arms-race that Dallas may have started in the new central division.

Chicago - defending stanley cup champs.
St. Louis - very good, assumes AP signs.
Minnesota - can see more growth from them.

Colorado - perhaps they get re-invented under Patrick Roy. And move a center for much needed help on d.

Winnipeg/Dallas/Nashville - fighting it out for the 5-7 spots. Lack depth or scoring.

I think with the draft, and the trade today, this division will be tough for years to come.

People always tend to predict the same result that (would have) happened last year, with some token tweaks involving teams no one cares about. Rarely does that pan out. Jets will be in contention for the division lead through February, then falter before finishing strong.

Nashville in first? Are they going to win every game 2-1?

Changed my view after the big Dallas trade and forgot Lehtonin was injured for a period of time last season so thats why they dropped in the standings.

Keys to actually having a good season.
-Pavsdeur will play 70+ games.
-Our rookies really break out this season Jets-1.0 style.
-Our team leaders threaten to colon stomp anyone on the team that thinks losing is okay.
-Coach cuts down on the aspartame candies, they're bad for you.

Or we fail hard and land in 7th.

They'll have the flukiest season in the league. Someone has to.
Just trying to shake things up a bit!

Well played. :P

Most flukey seasons don't last full 82 game schedule though...

2011-12 82 game season both #1 + #2 over performers TOR and MIN crashed down hard.
2012-13 48 game season both #1 + #2 over performers TOR and ANA made playoffs.
