Shots against and goals against aren't really anything sophisticated.

The save% when the player is on the ice isnt a fancy stat Those things are pretty simple really.

If your team is giving up the most shots and goals whenever a certain player is on the ice, that should 100%, unequivocally, no doubt be seen with the "eye test"

But apparently it is not.

But here is what I think happens; three or four defensive blunders always seem to get erased in the minds eye with a nice offensive play. At the end of the night a fan goes "did you see that rush up the ice". And if a player doesn't do the "rush up the ice" usually by job description all that's left to remember is the 1 or maybe 2 blunders they had. Doesn't matter that player A is committing 33 to 75% more blunders, he had that nice rush up the ice.

I think that is why the Stay At Home guys always take the most heat from the fans.
