Guys, I've been saying this for much of the season... the Sharks are not likely to win a conference or cup finals with Marleau and Thornton. It's time to move on a rebuild that core group of aging players who defined the Sharks over the last half decade or so. Marleau even does not want to be here.

It's time for DW to scrap together the best trade deal he can get for them, although he hung onto that duo too long.

In this league, the prize is first or worst. Worst for the draft pick due to the salary cap that keeps getting tighter as it matures. Stringing years of 1st round and 2nd round playoff exits is the absolute worse position to be in.

You have talked to marleau about his wanting to be or not to be in san jose? Must be nice to be that close to the organization/his family.

And even if marleau wants to be traded, him being traded mid season for anything that is worth anything is slim to non considering he can pick and choose what team he wants to go to.

And then there is thornton who has already explained via the media on what it would take to remove him from the team. 1st option is buy him out (can't happen midseason), 2nd is have the fans turn on him so he starts to feel unwelcome in san jose (highly doubtful that ever happen while he is one of the best players on the team). And even if by some miracle the fans do revolt against him in the next 2/3 weeks where he asks for a trade, once again you will not be getting anything worth while back from the handful of teams he would be willing to be traded to.
