We all know he won't be signed. But today is the deadline for teams to sign their college players. It will be official as of today that Koberstein will no longer be a member of the Habs.

Unless he is signed to an AHL/ECHL deal, which wouldn't count on the 50 spots.

Unless Evans makes it, looks like 2014 was another forgettable draft (to go with the others).

Koberstein was a 5-year player....or commonly call...a 5-year non-player....Moving up for Lernout while Point was still there. Under the radar Koberstein etc....A really bad draft.

To be fair all 31 teams missed the mark big time on B.Point... I get your "point".., not just the habs, every single team forgot to draft the future ppg player (true for so many good players in the end), it stings but it's not like we're the only team that missed the mark there tbh

There were only 30 teams at that time, but year pretty much. If Tampa knew he was so good they would have drafted him earlier.

Nah, you shouldn't see it that way. Does the Habs not get credit for picking Gallagher 'cause if they thought he was that good, they should have picked him earlier? Point was not on the radar in the 1st round. But they established him in their radar for the 3rd. And picked him. They deserved every bit of applause for that.

Where we missed the mark is that usually, when Timmins went after under the radar guys, he missed. Most of the time. Though some will say that this was what Subban was. Or more recently, what Romanov was. But in 2014, Timmins and Co were still aiming a big tough guys on the back end....which was already a waster pick, see the Lernout pick too. The guy in itself is rarely the problem. But the strategy behind it often is. And that's what the Lernout and Koberstein picks were. Bad strategy.

Agreed. The draft strategy was the flaw then. And it's not that they only picked scrubs back then because we have a few we can say were good picks (not many). Most didn't amount to anything and that is telling.

We can see that the strategy has changed the last few drafts. The results of it will be known once these prospects start to become pros. But there is a lot more to look forward to because the drafting strategy has changed and at the moment, looks like it's an improved approach.

When you're on top of the world it means everyone else but you missed the mark. Every computer engineers missed the mark on search engine. Somehow it should not make you feel better to not be Larry Page or Sergey Brin. Someone else failing should not make you feel better. If we want to win a cup we will need one day to be the team that did not miss the mark.
