Yeah I don't get people denying how great his performance has been. Obviously he's not better than McDavid in general, but is a goaltending performance like this more likely to help carry a team on a deep run than the best offensive performances a single player like McDavid can provide? Well that answer is pretty obvious considering Edmonton has two such players and they can't get past lesser teams than Florida now and Montreal a few seasons ago.
Infact not only is great goaltending a pre-requisite to going on a deep run but it's also pretty much a given that you can't win a Stanley Cup without solid goaltending.
You would never bet on a single goalie over an elite player like McDavid at the start of a season though because even rookie goalies have put up performances like this whereas elite goalies aren't always that consistent from one season to another. Bobrovsky has obviously been crap for a while now but he's clearly recaptured his Vezina trophy winning form.
