So underrated. He dominates nearly every shift and he’s our best defensive forward and PKer. I wouldn’t say he’s Selke caliber but he is a monster defensively and offensively, not far from Panarin’s level. Carried the Rangers last year and put up 20 more points than the 2nd leading scorer. Should be named captain pretty soon. Before anyone mentions Panarin—they have 0 chemistry together and have played on separate lines since like game 4-5

Him and Panarin is a good basis to build the team offense on. They have good goalie perspectives as well. Now they need a better defense to become a force in the league.

It's an awful trade, but for 1 season they nearly went all the way. Not the kind of thing they should have done, but that run was special. Pushed to try and win with a top 5 player at the time knowing he wasn't staying.

In all honesty, it was the decisions after that which completely killed them.

Mika though is such an amazing player. He took his opportunity with the Rangers and ran with it. Allowed them to trade Stepan and even Hayes knowing they had him as their core and their likely future captain.

While entering the league at 23, Alfie still won the Calder in his rookie season. Hardly a late bloomer.
