I was talking within the context of the hockey community, But we hardcore hockey fans tend to think the sport is more important than it really is.
In reality Zadorov is totally insignificant. His words dont change anything.

Now if there was a unified front of all sportsmen speaking their minds, .. okay maybe.


But many sportsmen are Putin supporters because they benefitted greatly from the gov investment in sports, etc. They are where they are because of it. They're the privileged, and many are entrenched in the system.
Self interest rules all.

He may not make a huge difference, but if he can inspire 1 more person to speak out, that is a good thing. Change is progressive and not instantaneous. The more people that speak out, the better.

Strong character, earned a lot of respect. Obviously costs him a lot in terms of (at least partially) severing relationships and more, but seeing as politics have long since invaded sports, it's good to see someone making a stand against atrocity and injustice.

Getting back to Zadorov... I was a bit surprised to see that he lives in Miami Florida in the off season. I've been to Florida in April and could barely stand the humidity. For me that's the last place I would want to be during the hot summer.
