I wouldn't mind seeing a MacArthur - Smith - Chiasson line, the three forgotten players on this roster. Next season I expect that Legwand, Smith, Lazar & Pageau will all be fighting for the only two centre spots left with Turris & Zibanejad keeping their spots.

Do the Sens brass also want to establish Lazar at centre at some point or keep him on the wing? If Greening is bought out than Smith could play LW until Legwands time is up in Ottawa & then he would replace Legwand at centre. Who knows but there are lots of options available to the team.

Hoffman - Zibanejad - Ryan
Michalek - Turris - Stone
MacArthur - Smith - Chiasson
Greening - Legwand - Neil
Condra - Pageau - Lazar

So why is our second best line listed as our 5th line in your lineup?

I understand the point you're trying to make, and they are playing great, but let's agree that Condra - Pageau - Lazar is not a top 6 line.

Nope, our top 2 lines have been playing like a legit top 6 for a few weeks now, even 9MM.

The additions of Stone and Hoffman accelerated our team faster than I believed possible.

oh i definitely agree

im saying that line has been our second most effective line, i guess i should have been clearer

i would definitely have that line over greening-legwand-neil and maybe even macarthur-smith-chiasson (since we havent actually seen them together)

nhl bottom 6 lines are supposed to have speed and provide energy and the pageau line has been doing it consistently, something we havent had since smith had his good season a couple of years ago

MacArthur - Turris - Stone
Lazar - Pageau - Condra
Michalek - Smith - Chiasson

I'm all for trading Chiasson+Wiercioch+2nd for a Top 6 LW, maybe add our other 2nd and maybe just maybe we can get O'Reilly?

Roll with
O'Reilly - Turris - Stone :)naughty:)
Hoffman - Zibanejad - Ryan
MacArthur - Pageau - Condra
Michalek - Smith - Lazar

Idk about you guys but I'd absolutely love that forward group.

i dont think that gets us o'reilly, probably need to add our first this year which i know a lot of people are against. Also why would you break up the condra-pageau-lazar line...

We always have lines that have a ton of chemistry that just disappear the next season, I don't see them lasting beyond this season.

The question is do they want Pageau AND Lazar as centers or no?

Zibanejad
Turris
Lazar
Pageau

I'd be fine with that, but Lazar could also play on Pageau's 3rd line RW, and they could make an elite 3rd line down the road. So that means there'd still be a spot for Smith, who despite all the critics is a fine bottom-6 player (agreed he's having a tough season) who can hit, agitate and score.

No worries with Legwand, insurance policy for injuries, only there one more season and can also play LW (better than Smith)

If Pageau and Lazar are full time centers, Smih could be part of a package to upgrade Michalek or MacArthur.

Michalek/MacArthur + Wiercioch + Smith + 2nd (for example) should get you a good top-6 Winger. Problem is always finding the dance partner.

It's well known that I love Smith.. But I really hope it's the ladder. I think we can all agree that being a feisty agitator is when Smith is most effective.

No it's not... You're not that important :sarcasm:

In other news, you probably have been playing too many ladders

:sarcasm: x 2

Obviously he is a team guy and wants to play.

I hope he gets in game shape fairly quickly and can replace Legwand, as I would like to see how the team looks with Zibby, Turris, Pageau and Smith at center.

Agreed.

I'm hoping that since he's been injured, he's rediscovered his passion for the game. Prior to the injury he was almost just going through the motions. Let's hope he comes back focused, determined and ready to regain his role on the team because I think he brings more to the table than legwand and a centre core or zibby, turris, Pageau and smith could be really good

I agree, Smith is an asset you want to have and he's a tough guy to play against when he's on. The only thing I'm not sure is whether I'd like to have Legwand or Smith. Both bring different elements. If it was me, I'd probably keep Legwand in the lineup and scratch Chiasson instead.

Zack Smith can be a pretty good hockey player when he wants to. I just want to see him play with intensity and be responsible defensively. There's definitely a place for him on the team if he goes back to his old ways.

Don't like that lineup. All LHS and not sure whether Smith can play the C anymore after his injury. I think he might come back as a permanent LW.

Smith - Legwand - Chiasson

Puempel back in the AHL

I tend to agree, they had Legwand at centre & Smith on the wing before the injury & I think they will do that again. That being said though once Legwand is off the team whenever that will be Smith could move back to centre. I too wonder whether they want Lazar to be a centreman or winger on this team, that complicates things a little.

please no smith on the wing, unless he looks next level amazing in bingo. We have already tried that experiment and it failed, doesnt matter if we put smith or legwand on the wing, we tried it when the games were less intense why should we do it when everything is on the line.

Smith or Legwand at C, only one of them not both, if its smith from last year or the year before give him the spot, if its smith this year...stay in the ahl please and thank you

Both Pageau and Lazar are better centres then Smith. At virtually every aspect of the position. No need for Smith at wing either. Legwand is a lot better then Smith. Lazar will eventually be a centre next year or soon.

No room for Smith. We need to trade him in the offseason. If he can't be traded we should buy him out.

What's one thing that past Cup winners have had?

Great depth.

The prospect porn is nice, but let's not dump our depth just because prospects are developing. Keep Smitty around if we can. Unless a significant upgrade at defence becomes available, he's a good role player to have even if he's not an everyday player.

All LHS is a problem yet all RHS isn't (Lazar, Condra, Pageau)?

If Smith's wrist isn't fully healed then he won't be playing, so not a problem.

However he has been practicing with the team for several weeks and for the team to send him on a conditioning stint suggests his wrist is fine.
