Your playoff bandwagon teams

[Summer Rose]

Every year, instead of trying to rank the playoff teams 1-16, I divide them into broader categories about how I generally feel about them and how I'd react if they won the cup, and several I just don't feel strongly enough about to actually rank them ahead of each other. Feel free to copy my format or make up your own, or whatever.

Would be very happy:

Tampa Bay Lightning
(significant gap)
St. Louis Blues

Would be mildly happy:

Colorado Avalanche
Minnesota Wild
Carolina Hurricanes

Meh:

Nashville Predators
Dallas Stars
Washington Capitals

Would be mildly unhappy:

Calgary Flames
Edmonton Oilers
New York Rangers
Pittsburgh Penguins
Toronto Maple Leafs

Die:

Los Angeles Kings
Boston Bruins
Florida Panthers

Only team I had second thoughts about is that I originally put Toronto in the "die" category and then decided that I didn't feel that strongly about them; I only put them there at first because they're Tampa Bay's opponent.

Florida - Sunbelt and want to see Jumbo lift a cup. Duclair as well
Minnesota - Their fans deserve it
Carolina - Same as above, plus Domi, Martinook and Tony D
Colorado - Grew partial to them living out here
Nashville - Really wanted them to beat the Pens a few years back
NYR - have always been appealing to me. I love their jerseys and the history.

Bonus spite option....I usually also hope the Champs win on the road so unless their fans travel to the game, they don't get to see their team win the cup in person (same as us), and the home teams fans only get to suffer (and we don't, or rather we're done suffering for the season.)

This year I'm going to bypass the Spite option and hope the Blues fans get to see their team hoist the cup.

I just want the Florida Panthers to win. That franchise has suffered a lot like this one. Could go a long way to making Miami a hockey town.

Would be happy for any team, really. But especially so for:

Colorado -- that team is too good to not win, the kid in me who says, "life should be fair!" thinks that team is should AT LEAST play a good series when in the SC final. Obvi life isn't fair but I like to pretend that sports is (I realize how dumb that is but whatever)

Tampa -- Just the chance to win 3 in a row. Plus Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman, Vasi etc. Stamkos especially doesn't get nearly enough respect

Some random team with aging veterans who were once elite, like BOS, WSH, PIT. Maybe Dallas goes in here too (Pavelski, Suter, Seguin who is not that old but been playing for forever), also I really respected how they made the SCF a couple years ago as an underdog team riding Khudobin of all people.

Either way though I always like watching the cup come out no matter who the team is, it's cool to see people succeed at the highest level. Maybe someday it will be this franchise but that day is certainly a long way away

I’m seeing a lot of Leafs in 5 predictions and Campbell/Vasy comparisons. Okay.

I could see Leafs winning big tonight and setting the hockey ablaze, then losing the next 4 games. I hope it works exactly that way.
