List your all-time Ottawa Senators team from 1992. Doesn't necessarily have to be the top point getters and explain your reasonings, if possible.

My reasoning is picking players that would have won us the Stanley Cup.

***Rule: Players should have played at least 3 years minimum with the franchise

Forwards:
Heatley Spezza Alfredsson (PIZZA line.. enough said)
McEachern Yashin Havlat (As much as I hate Yashin, this is a pure secondary scoring line)
Hossa Bonk Arvedson (brings back memories..solid checking line at the time too!)
Cunneyworth Fisher Dackell (Would have been great together as a 4th line)

Defence:
Chara Redden (Both reached all-star caliber with the Sens)
Phillips Volchenkov (Philchenkov...enough said)
York Pitlick (PMD to go along with a bruiser in Pitlick..)

Goaltenders
Ron Tugnutt
Patrick Lalime (would have been my starter if he didn't **** up in Game 7)

Owner: Eugene Melnyk (Oh how much of a difference that would have made back in the days..)
General Manager: Marshall Johnston
Head Coach: Bryan Murray
Assistant Coach: Jacques Martin
Assistant Coach: Perry Pearn

this has been done so many times already

I've been through 4 months and 25 pages of HF threads and the only encounter was a 99/00-present all-time team..

As you can tell, that is not what I am going for in this thread.. I thought I made it fun enough, but I guess it's hard to please everyone at HF

Why did you randomly cut off the actual Cup years of the franchise? Pete Green, the Silver Seven... they deserve a place over Magnus ****in' Arvedson.

Hey man, don't slagg 'the machine' Arvedson.

That guy was our selke candidate year in and year out, until he collided into an open door on the bench against the Flyers at flank speed!

None of us were alive when Hitler was around. Does that make it questionable whether or not he was a bad man?

Considering they're technically two different franchises, it's not random at all. Just go with the modern Senators. But you could careless

Just go with the modern Senators.

Why? The real Senators seem to have no problem honoring their real past. See: the banner in SBP that honors Frank Finnigan, the roads around the arena named after the likes of Cyclone Taylor and Frank Nighbor.

Stop being so ignorant.

I think ole Frank and his leather helmet would get his pumpkin smashed when he goes down low with Chara :help:

As for my team, my opinion hasn't changed:

You have to go with how they played while with the team, while balancing longevity with the team as well. I'm also going with position of the players only instead of looking at chemistry as well. (ex. Redden and Chara are no doubt the best defensemen we've ever had, but they weren't all that great when playing together. But I'm still putting them on the first pairing because they are our best two defensemen)

I'm also only going with 92 onward. I really don't know enough about the early Sens to make an informed decision.

Heatley-Yashin-Alfredsson (Yashin, no matter how he was vilified in this city, finished second in Hart voting one year with us)
McEachern-Spezza-Hossa (McEachern, one of the lone bright spots of the early years)
Arvedson-Bonk-Havlat (Everyone always forgets Bonk. He's still 4th all time on our scoring list. Above even Hossa)
Schaefer-Fisher-Neil(I was debating between Neil and Dackell, but I think Neil fills more roles on this team. Besides, this line was amazing when they played together and I couldn't resist not putting them together. They were our best checking line due solely to the fact that they had two minute shifts cycling the puck in the offensive zone all the time)

Redden-Chara(This is pretty easy to explain)
Phillips - Volchenkov(Pretty easy as well)
Duchesne-York(The 6th defenseman is pretty much a crapshoot as far as I'm concerned)

Lalime(Was quite good for us. Except in game 7's)
Hasek(Spectacular with us when he played. But he still only played half a season with us)
