Doom and gloom surrounded the team,
after a heartbreaking defeat.
But many implored for those not to fear
and prevent them from further retreat.

For the red and black had battled back,
often this year for sure.
That to call for this skid to be a foreboding sign
was perhaps a tad immature.

Yet once again, the Bolts were on deck
a team that's seen and done it all.
The likes of Stamkos, Hedman, Kucherov and Vasilevskiy
would make even the most confident fall.

An early goal against in both
the first and second frames.
Were we in for another one
of those frustrating games?

The man that they call Bratter
who was mired in a slump
took it upon himself
to give his mates a pump.

A mere nine seconds later
after going down by two,
came a touch pass from the Captain
to spring the Swede on through.

He weaved his way on through
pushing the defense on their heels
before rifling a dart over the glove
and restored confidence we would feel.

It wouldn't take much longer
before the Swede would strike once more.
A seeing eye shot through a maze of bodies
would restore the even score.

Like he has done all year,
our Captain would lift us with a scoop
as he rifled the biscuit through the netminder's legs
to shove it further up the haters' hoops.

Against the team that drafted him,
it was quite the moment for Foote.
And he sought his opportunity to snipe
and make his old team's chances kaput.

And so, the red and black
went back to their winning ways.
No, the season was not over
leaving the doubters in a daze.

But we return home to the Rock
for an encounter with the Wild.
And with the playoffs looming,
the crowd ought to be riled.

The home stretch is upon us;
the postseason can be tasted.
Enjoy this ride while you can
and don't let a drop of it be wasted.

I would like to say this is a slam dunk for the NJD but it certainly won’t be. Zona isn’t even a slam dunk for the NJD. Minny certainly won’t be. And the way we play at the rock this year is much more passive than the way we play in Miami and Phoenix. We couldn’t even beat this team a month ago in Minny when they had their inferior backup Gustavsson in nets. And that was when VV was still at the top of his game and had the threat of Mack Black to take starts from him, which right now all he has is a very raw and not yet NHL caliber Schmid who looked pretty shaky in the 3rd period against FLA and cost us the contest by getting outplayed by Bob.

Fleury will no doubt be in for Minny in this one and a win against Fleury right now is almost as impossible as a win over FLA at the moment. Fleury is a legit HOF netminder, who is still elite and at the top of his game.

He’s also very close to hunting down #30 for the all time wins record, which I think he eventually gets. Book it.

3-0 Minny.

Let’s go Diablos. No excuse not to beat the Kaprizov-less Wild.

Well they’ve been on a tear for awhile.

Now Kirill the Thrill has only been out for these games:

Sure they lost in OT to the Coyotes but that team has been winning too, with the same record as the Rangers over their last 18 games. Go figure.

And if you look at the stats, the Wild have been doing by getting the best SV% and GA/60 in the NHL. No idea if that’s remotely sustainable but that’s what they’ve been winning with.

As a side note, I would also point that no bubble team deserves the second wild card spot in the West. Winnipeg, Calgary and Nashville are all doing awful lol.

Nice but you forgot one thing in that poem :

You only mentioned the first and 2nd goals.

Still love the poem, though. :)

I haven't watched the Wild much this season, so I don't know what to expect regarding how good they are.

But I would love to see the Devils continue to make the entire Western Conference their bitches. So let's do that.

Wild have been very good lately . Hopefully they start Fleury because their other tender has been on a hot streak.
Stick to the game plan , play a full game and we can whoop these clowns .
The quest for Metro division cosmos continues . Go Devils Go !

Hope we test Schmid down the stretch and give him a decent workload. I might even be happy with a true committee for the playoffs instead of planning to play Vanecek 28 straight games.
