Marleau - Matthews - Marner (a Matthews Marner duo could be special)

Hyman - Tavares - Kadri. ( Forecheck would be beastly, they'd out work everyone. )

Kapanen- Nylander - Johnasson (sheltered skilled euros...could be a dominant line in favorable matchups)

Brown - Lindholm - Leivo
(two way utility line)

Big difference is Kadri on the wing....not everyone will like that

I think that's an interesting way to mix up the lineup without really reducing the overall effectiveness of it.

Who knows, maybe Tavares comes in and has zero chemistry with anyone and things need to be completely reconfigured.

Hyman/Leivo - Tavares - Marner (I wouldn't mind trying Leivo here, but doubt it happens)
Marleau - Matthews - Nylander (This is what I was hoping for when we signed Patty)
Johnsson - Kadri - Kapanen (Johnsson and Kadri seem to have some chemistry, and IIRC Johnsson and Kapanen played well together with the Marlies)
Ennis/Leivo/Hyman - Lindholm - Brown (Pretty well just "the best of the rest" on the wings, but it would be pretty cool if Lindholm could solidify himself as a quality center for us)

Gardiner - Rielly (Just try it, a reasonably priced RHD upgrade looks like it'll have to wait, and I don't want to see Hainsey getting gassed before the playoffs)
Dermott - Zaitsev (Thought about Zaitsev with Hainsey because I want Zaits to have a better chance to show more of an offensive game, but i'll be optimistic and hope that Dermott is up to the task)
Hainsey - Carrick (nice to have a veteran playing with Carrick, maybe Hainsey can help him progress a bit more)

This is real close to mine, what caught my eye and what I have always liked is
MARLEAU - MATTHEWS - NYLANDER
I think Patty M is just a better skilled Hyman who skates faster and can score way better. To me it's a super line . . . until you get to the 2nd one . . ..
JOHNSSON - TAVARES - MARNER

And I slot the rest this way...
HYMAN - KADRI - KAPANEN
LEIVO - LINDHOLM - BROWN
(Brown or Kappy could move up to replace Johnsson, depending on play)

Tonnes of great options though.
My D pairings and goalies are the same as yours, with only Gardiner and Dermott switched.

Defence wise, unless we trade for someone or someone impresses in camp I think

Gardiner-Rielly
Dermott-Zaitsev
Hainsey-Holl

Really need Zaitsev to bounce back or we will be struggling a bit on the back end. I think the top pair isnt too bad gards is a bit soft and tasked to to a bit much but its not bad. Bottom pair is a dream. Both Hainsey and Holl are tough as nails, should pk for us and can clear the puck out, i think it could be very strong pairing for a 3rd pair.

Assuming no more moves before the season:

Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander
Marleau-Tavares(!)-Marner
Hyman-Kadri-Kapanen
Brown-Lindholm/Ennis-Grundstrom
Leivo/Jooris

Gardiner-Rielly
Dermott-Zaitsev
Borgman-Hainsey
Holl/Carrick/Liljegren/Rosen

Fred
McBackup/Sparks

I like Andreas Johnsson to take Hyman's spot on the Papi line. he's a good 2-way player who can support the other two but has much more skill than Hyman does, which is what those two need.

I think Grundstrom has a legit shot to make the team. He can score and has some jam too. I also don't think the 4th line is going to get a lot of time for the forseeable future, so we could see more of a revolving cast here as kids audition etc.

Dermott should start on pair 2 this year, he can handle another 2 or 3 minutes at least.

Since the word dream was used, Zaitsev returns to form after his injury riddled second season and is a capable #4. not the scared squirrel-being on hockey skates we saw this past season.

Hainsey brings some much needed stability to the 3rd pairing and is in a more appropriate role for this stage of his career. Borgman has size, and can skate shoot and handle the puck. like Dermott he is also willing to throw the body. I'd like to see him make it, but it's a mishmash at that end of lineup same as at forward.

Not too much to say about the goaltending. Freddy has to stay healthy, and he needs to happen to be on a peak rather than a valley going into the playoffs, or we're in big trouble no matter how good the rest of the team is. Hopefully he gets more rest this season with an even stronger lineup in front of him.

Doesn't need it's own thread but what do people think for the 3 forward duos in OT?

Tavares-Marner
Matthews-Nylander
Kadri-Johnsson

but how about...

Tavares-Matthews
Kadri-Marner
Nylander-Johnsson

...then you have Marleau/Kapanen in reserve. Just FILTHY!

In reality probably something like.....

Hyman/Brown
Matthews/Nylander
Marleau/Lindholm
Hyman/Brown
Tavares/Ennis
Hyman/Johnsson
Kapanen/Marner
Brown/Kadri
Hyman/Brown
Hyman/Brown
Hyman/Brown

in that order

i guess his linemates had nothing to do with it

but no need to worry about the posters who put him on the 4th line since Babs believes Hyman is the teams MVP

Fine.....except if Grundstrom makes the team and looks good enough I might try him instead of Leivo..

His points are because of Matthews and Willy! My eyes see a 4th liner !
He doesn't cut the top 6 on any team in the league!
