Who is your 2010 team, are you a Gretzky and go with the vet's, or are you going to start a new generation with crosby's and staal's.
Mine would go like this:
Forwards:
Sidney Crosby
Eric Staal
Patrick Marleau
Shane Doan
Simon Gagne
Joe Thornton
Dany Heatley
Jarome Iginla
Vincent Lecavalier
Martin St. Louis
Brad Richards
Jonathan Cheechoo
Ryan Smyth(C)

Defence:
Jay Bouwmeester
Bryan McCabe
Scott Hannan
Scott Neidermeyer(A)
Dion Phaneuf
Luc Bourdon
Chris Pronger(A)

Goalies:
Martin Brodeur
Roberto Luongo
Marty Turco

what are your lists?

S. Gagne J. Sakic(C) J. Iginla (A)
P. Kariya S. Crosby (A) R. Nash
P. Marleau B. Richards M. St-Louis
D. Heatley E. Staal P. Bergeron
J. Spezza

S. Niedemayer D. Phaneuf (A)
D. Boyle J. Bouwmeester
W. Redden B. Stuart
MA Bergeron

R. Luongo
M. Brodeur
M. Turco

Remember, this is 2010 so Dion and Sid having A's will be legit (at least I think so)... and I think Luongo should have the starting job in 4 years as well...

I think Mike Fisher, Steve Sullivan, Alex Tanguay, Matt Cooke, Marc Savard, Raffi Torres, Mike Richards, Gilbert Brule, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Joffrey Lupul could be considered as well, depending on how they all develop and play between now and then.

Cam Ward should be considered for the goaltender

I'm thinking the Penguins in 4 years will probably be a good team since they have so much top notch young talent (although it's hinging on Craig Patrick either getting fired or learning from his mistakes this season), so I'd think MAF would also be considered.

I think with the young talent the Penguins have, they will be well represented at the next few Olympics... Crosby, Malkin, Whitney, Fleury just to name a few...

And if they keep on getting these high lottery picks, their whole team may be full of Olympians soon!

I wonder who will have a better team in 4 years. The russians have alot of good young players in the works.

This thread is sorta pointless for a few reasons.

1) Players that are underrated come out of nowhere
2) Players that people realize are underrated, think will be good, and do absolutely nothing
3) Players last longer than we anticipate

For example, Marty St. Louis and Kris Draper in 2002, who thought they would be on the 2006 olympic team?

And guys like Pascal Leclaire and Marc Denis who everyone thought would pan out and didn't

And especially guys like Foote and Blake who most people predicte would already be passed their prime for the 2006 games...

So take predictions of Iginla, Gagne not being there.....and Lupul and Perry being there.....with a grain of salt
