Salary cap: 70.5 million

Cap space: 2.42 million

Kreider - Krejci - Marchand
Smith - Reinhart - Soderberg
Lowry - Beagle - N.Ritchie

Doughty - J.Johnson
Hamilton - Seidenberg

Bought out Savard after Season 1 for 1.3 mil cap hit.

Chara retired after Season 1.

I have two, one looks like the real team without injuries. Side note, I couldn't do either trade without adding.

And this one where I made the Seguin trade for Roussel, Chiasson, and Smith. With the cap savings in 2013, I kept Horton, Boychuk, and Thornton.

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Smith
Roussel-Soderberg -Chiasson
Paille-Kelly-Thornton

Chara-Boychuk
Seidenberg -Hamilton
Krug-McQuaid

Rask
Thomas

Needing massive overpayment deters you from pursuing unrealistic trades

I add draft picks and AHL players with high ceiling to the deals that I make. Also regarding the cap, I am starting with NHL 13 and Gallagher has three years left on his deal and making a little over a Mill.

We had a rule in a GM Connected league I was in for NHL 13, but could apply to offline BA GM as well, was to only allow the trading of draft picks no more than 2 years out, for example in 2014-15 we could only trade 2015 and 2016 draft picks. No more trading 2020 and 2021 1st rounders for top end players in say the 2014-15 season. Kept it more realistic IMO and challenging to make trades.

Another decent rule (and one I wish my current league had) was if you signed a free agent you couldn't trade them until after Jan.1 of the following year. This helps the prevent guys from signing a bunch of decent young prospects who end up in the UFA pool for the sole purpose of immediately trading them to acquire better current NHL players.

Can't remember where the cap is at exactly, just know I have a fair amount of space left. Ryder's shot is suprisingly good in this game which is why he is still there. Traded Rask for Oiler's picks Just because goaltending isn't really a problem for me (I could beat good players with Team Japan).
