No good pictures, but I started a year ago and currently play at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex. I know little about ice conditions, but have been told that the ice there is fantastic, as you would expect it to be for an NHL team's practice facility, so I am fortunate in that respect. Cool place to play.
I played at Superior Ice Rink. Best picture I could find of it:
Started going to open skate when I was 4 or 5 after going to a birthday party there and loving it. Played their until I quit playing hockey a few years ago. If I get back into hockey which I want to I would most likely play there or at the new Twin Rinks at Eisenhower.
I play at Sharks Ice San Jose. There are four rinks in one building which is used for everything from curling, hockey, figure skating, and public skate.
The facility is where the Sharks practice so it's not unusual to see a couple of players or coaches
The last pic is a bit small but behind the players is a restaurant upstairs that oversees three of the four rinks. Beer is usually served after a beer league game.
Grew up and still live in Thunder Bay, ON Canada.
League when I was a younger kid (Westfort) played on both outdoor rinks as well as in hockey arenas; most commonly Delaney Arena if I recall correctly
Here's a pic of Delaney Arena from the city archives around 5-10 years before I played there:
