Is it still Dale Hawerchuk on his rookie season with 45 goals? Not really sure about this though...

A simple http://hockeyreference.com search confirms that Hawerchuk was the youngest.

I fiddled around with the search options at hockey-reference.com. This is what I came up with: Eight different players aged 19 or younger scored 40 goals in an NHL season. Dale Hawerchuk did it twice and was the youngest to do it.

But seriously: there's a reason he never broke 40 goals- let alone 50- after leaving Edmonton. Carson was a creampuff diva who couldn't take a hit.

Although, to be fair, the Oilers made out nicely in the deal that sent him to Detroit (Adam Graves, Petr Klima, Joe Murphy, Jeff Sharples). Graves, Klima and even Murphy all proved key contributors to the '90 Cup win, and Sharples was traded to NJ for another big piece, Ruotsalainen.
