Was this also the year where Perreault got off to a really fast start? I feel like I remember that he was around a PPG by the All-Star break but he apparently didn't get picked to play that year so I may be off...

I dont think Habs had anyone at PPG pace around this time but definitely not that season. Perreault was their best player heading into the new year.

I think its the 03 season you're thinking of though.

Yep, upon further review it was the 03 season. He was pacing towards some career highs and then just fell off a cliff.

Still liked what he brought to the table. Solid career.

Edit: He had 20 goals at the 47 game mark for the team that year. That's definitely the season I was thinking of. Thank you!

I think 03 might be one of the weirdest seasons in history. In that some really strange peaks just happened to seem to coincide. Hejduk won the scoring title, it was the second season of Glen Murray becoming a 40 goal scorer, Vinny Prospal was one of the best playmakers in the league, Barret Jackman wins the Calder, Ducks goes to the cup final and their losing goalie wins the smythe and Blue jackets played Marc Denis in 77 games(!)...

Its just such a strange season.

You can't breathe his name without talking about faceoff wins. He was a classic faceoff specialist if there ever was one, and a guy who while he didn't skate fast still could put up some modest point totals. An asset on your team for sure. I will admit that I can't pinpoint why he was good on draws. I picture him and I don't know what it was in particular that made him dangerous on draws. Maybe just his smarts?

Jeez, you aren't kidding. Hejduk didn't win the Art Ross but he definitely did have the most goals like I assume you meant. Glen Murray was dead-on-arrival once the 05 lockout ended but that's crazy to see. Prospal was fun, I liked that guy a lot. And Barrett Jackman...that's a name I forgot about. I remember I was at Dunkin when he was announced and just being so confused.

And Marc Denis 77 games! You're right. That was a bizarre season even for DPE years. I wish the Sabres had been good that year but it was still fun seeing the league essentially edge itself closer to the lockout. That wasn't a sustainable model but definitely interesting!
