Not a fan of either team, just curious if this is at all in the realm of possibilities...
(Jets are given permission to speak to Stone/his agent before making the deal)
To WPG: Stone, Duchene
To OTT: Laine, 2019 1st
Operating under the assumption Stone would be willing to sign an extension to play in his hometown (let’s say 7 years, 61 million, 8.714 per), it’s fair to argue he’s worth committing that type of term and money to rather than giving Laine that money. I appreciate that Laine is one of the best natural goal scorers to come along since Ovechkin, but there is considerable immaturity to his game currently. The Jets are in their cup window right now, and to nab both these guys would make them the slam dunk favourites in the west.
Duchene will be a pure rental in this scenario.
Thoughts?
