Before they add any new awards I would like to see the voting for the Selke and Norris not exclusively decided by the media, and some of the voting handed over to the NHL or people who actually watch games all the way through on a regular basis.
I believe the NBA lets the media have a % of voting and then the rest of the voting is given to NBA coaching staffs for certain awards. I think Something like this would really help players who are better defensively win both the Norris and Selke awards. Making 2 awards that are kind of silly right now feel more prestigious is just like adding 2 new awards IMO.
I wouldn't protest an award for the most assists in a season; because that is easy, no voting required. The most improved one however would most likely end up becoming an award for the highest positive point differential from a player's last season to their current season.
