No Movement Clause means he has to waive/agree to be traded to whichever team is supposedly offering up the great package. It really limits a player's trade value.

His brand and marketing alone is worth more to the Organization than any hockey "haul" they may receive. He will not not be moved unless he specifically asks to be moved, or he's in the final year and doesn't want to resign. There are other players they can and will move. Matthews isn't going anywhere unless he wants out.
The players took little to no responsibility for the loss and accused the media and fans of creating a “scapegoat” . When compared to other leaders in the sport, he’s a disappointment both on and off the ice.
Anyone that has a #1C/D/G isn't going to trade them all for another 1C.What if the Leafs got offered a #1C, a #1D and a #1 goalie for Matthews? Even if the Leafs have to add picks to balance the trade. Would and should the Leafs do it despite just signing Matthews to a new contract that starts next season? Or is Matthews untouchable?
He’s been a terrific regular season player, but Pelley said today they’re no longer in the shirt selling business. We’ll see if they can find some guys to drag him through a couple of rounds.Perfect then no team will want him, guess the leafs will keep the bum goal scoring 2 way center
Isn’t that a NTC? Isn’t a NMC about assignment to the minors? No Movement Clause means he has to waive/agree to be traded to whichever team is supposedly offering up the great package. It really limits a player's trade value.
A no-movement clause means a player cannot be traded, placed on waivers or assigned to the minors without his consent. A no-trade clause means a player cannot be traded without his consent.Isn’t that a NTC? Isn’t a NMC about assignment to the minors?
Bruh you wouldn't trade a #1C for another #1C + #1D + 1G??No, unless he asks to leave.
I get the goal for most fans is to win the cup, but Matthews is one a great player and two, such a massive marketing piece. He has a chance to go down as the best Leaf since Keon if not further back than that. While the current playoff performance of our team has been insanely disappointing, Matthews fills seats (granted anyone can do that in Leaf land, we've seen a team with JVR as the best player sell out pretty much everygame while tanking) and draws viewers.

That's wild
Well none of those are #1 guys.Define the players...
In the past the leafs #1 center was Bozak, #1 d was Schenn and #1 G was Reimer lol
Well none of those are #1 guys.
When OP says he'd trade a #1 I assume a true #1 not a phoney #1
Can we keep our superstar players north of the border? Matthews and MvDavid and Hughes need to stay on their current Canadian clubs. And the other Canadian clubs need to get superstars and keep them too.FTFY
He'd also be the GHOAT should he be moved to Carolina for Aho, Slavin and Kochetkhov. He also loves playing in Toronto and definitely values the fact that he'll end up the all time points leader, possibly GLOAT.
